Supreme Court pick Gorsuch says Trump not above law

Source: BBC

Donald Trump's pick for the vacant seat on the Supreme Court has insisted that no-one, including the president who nominated him, is above the law.

Neil Gorsuch also told his Senate confirmation hearing that no-one had asked him to make any promises on how he would rule. He said he would have "walked out" if Mr Trump had asked him to overturn the landmark Roe v Wade abortion ruling.

But he said it would be wrong to say how he would rule on any given case. That would be the "beginning of the end" of an independent judiciary, he said.

Mr Gorsuch, nominated for the seat vacated by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia 13 months ago, is facing two days of intense grilling in the Senate Judicial Committee.

Is he likely to support an effort that gives anyone the ability to ignore someone's legal marriage, or that allows people to ignore laws regarding accommodations, services, healthcare, visitation, housing, parenting, adoption, work, etc etc etc. It may not be the type of law that literally overturns marriage equality, but it's one that makes it easier to hate and discriminate without consequence... even for public officials (let alone bigoted bakeries).

Or am I just letting a mother's fears get the best of me? Am I worrying for nothing?

He's a Republican.

Therefore he lies.

45 isn't above the law. Until Gorsuch is on the Supreme Court and rules that it's not illegal if the president does it.

You can't trust a Republican. How many times do we have to say that?

How can there be any Democrats leaning in his direction?

Any D votes for him should plan on looking for a new job come the next election cycle. Plus, look at any contributions they receive.

Anyone who attaches himself or herself to 45 has no credibility left at all. Zero. For the rest of their lives. We need to let them know this.

If Trump were to, say, try to implement some FDR-like initiatives that actually helped the 99% or pull back some corporate power, Gorsuch would be first up to block him.

(not that tRump would do that, but just saying)

Walker has said in the past that he believes, or the people in his cult-like Church believe, that it's not really a lie if you're lying to do God's work, e.g., lying about your views on LBGT or abortion.

he should voluntarily decline the nomination for the SC. He will forever bear the stain and stench of being nominated to be the pawn of the corrupt and treasonous trump administration.

may vary.

He'll do whatever suits his agenda (and he's got a big one) once he has the opportunity.

Just like Scalia.
