Trump lost 10 GOP health care votes after personally visiting Congress for "hard sell": NBC News
Source: Raw Story
The number of Republican lawmakers who said they were leaning against voting for the GOP-sponsored health care bill increased yesterday after President Donald Trump visited Capitol Hill to push the plan.
Prior to Trumps Tuesday visit to Congress to make a hard sell to Republicans, NBC News counted 17 GOP lawmakers who either opposed or leaned strongly against the bill, which is also being championed by House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI).
Trump warned members of his party at the meeting to get on board or risk losing in 2018 midterms.
The presidents argument, however, did not prove persuasive.

(18,837 posts)...he premise was that Republicans are "no longer afraid of Trump," and that he came to this conclusion by speaking with some of them personally.
He said that the tweets, specifically the "tapp" tweets, killed what was left of his credibility.
If they vote for RyanCare, it's a bloodbath in 2018. No one affected by the changes will even consider voting Republican. Maybe a crazy few who will believe it when Kellyanne Conway says that we wouldn't be in this situation if Obama hadn't screwed it up first.
If they don't for RyanCare, it's a bloodbath in 2018. All of the red hats yelling "You lied, you were gonna get rid of Obamacare!"
So you have a Republican house yelling "FULL STEAM AHEAD" without the necessary votes, and a President whose Art of the Deal days are over.
Sad!
Not really.

(31,113 posts)I think so, I think they are against it because ANY help for ANYBODY that can be connected in ANYWAY to Obama, is no good.
How do these people

(18,837 posts)They really are on board with Ryan on gutting Medicaid and Medicare.
What they don't like is that they somehow want the language tarted up so that the less inquisitive out there won't see the word "genocide" on the page.
Make no mistake, this is not a case of "compassionate conservatism."

(4,116 posts)...would appear that, but I had to look ....thanks for letting us know. I posted on his Face Book page and got one more dig in.
Our Indivisible group went to a mock Town Hall in Las Cruces, a real Town Hall in Las Cruces and a real Town Hall in Ruidoso. Our group got most of the 40 questions, but he lied (so surprised), he pivoted, he segued ....actually quite well.
New Mexico gives a one-of-a-kind (no other state has anything like this) freedom to our Land Commissioner, who wants to steal/transfer all of our National Forests, National Parks, National Monuments, BLM to folks who want to buy them, to our (very poor) state which will sell them to oil industry and those giant for-rich-only hunting preserves (think where Scalia died, where Cheney shot friend). Our Land Commissioner is on the short list for BLM national position and our Tea Party Rep Steve Pearce for our Land Commissioner.
For all who have loved hiking, hunting, camping, bird watching, picnicking, fishing or even just driving through forests instead of oil pumps...keep up the activism by calling YOUR Reps and Senators.

(18,837 posts)Throughout the primaries and the general election, many pundits pointed out that there is a "system" in Washington.
They also said that while Trump could go out to his "rallies" and be the "Celebrity Apprentice Presidential Candidate," if he ever landed his ass in Washington, he's find out quickly that the "system" didn't play by his rules.
Being the ultimate narcissist, this news of his "dealmaking" gone south must be driving him up the wall today.
