Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took to Twitter Friday to celebrate the House Republicans' pulling of a vote on their bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, calling it a "victory for all Americans."
Clinton -- who has kept a fairly low profile since her defeat last November, save for a few public speaking engagements and some walks in the woods -- released a statement on President Donald Trump's favorite social media platform, hailing the move to pull the bill as a victory for affordable health care and urging Democrats to fight on.

Following her statement, she shared the stories of those who have been helped by the Affordable Care Act.

(54,770 posts)needed tweaks. ACA will fail, but not because it was bad legislation. It will fail because GOPers let it fail, or more likely actively make it to fail.

I'm betting GOPers are back trying to repeal ACA as soon as they lack their wounds.

Then watch how fast they screw everyone.
I am inclined to believe that this was a calculated move designed to 1) avoid being primaried in moderate districts and 2) save their majority in both houses.
I guess we will see. I was never much of a cynic before, but this ongoing circus has changed me in a fundamental way.

Cynicism (contemporary)
Cynicism is an attitude or state of mind characterized by a general distrust of others' motives.[1] A cynic may have a general lack of faith or hope in the human species or people motivated by ambition, desire, greed, gratification, materialism, goals, and opinions that a cynic perceives as vain, unobtainable, or ultimately meaningless and therefore deserving of ridicule or admonishment.

(389 posts)But, the Dems can offer ACA improvements and rally the people to support it.
Will it work? Generally no, not with reps. But the People did help to kill the AHCA - maybe
the people can rally support for Dem improvements. Maybe even Medicare for All.

(22,651 posts)First bill should be a very reasonable small focused 'fix'. A tweak supported by Doctors, medical professionals and supported by the general public the buyers of insurance plans.
Ds in the House should write the bill immediately. Consult with ACA experts right away, decide on the small tweak to improve ACA and publish the change.
Republicans would be foolish to try to block a small tweak ACA amendment, that directly benefits American consumers.
I suggest a tweak on something in insurance billing where insurance corporation excessively inflates the price of a medical service so a consumer has to pay a much higher co-pay. Inflates the price so a state/federal government has to pay a lot more to the insurance corp. if there is a reimbursement to Insurance Corporation. This increases their profits, the bottom line for any Corporation is profit margin.
For example, a friend had a blood test to re-check liver values. Billed at $900 by insurance so his co-pay was over $200. I'm positive the lab charge is less than $100 for this test. Not every medical charge is vastly inflated to increase profit margin but several services are. Pick one and tweak by a small bill please, Ds.

Now she should point out why the Canadians and Europeans have such a good system.
So should we all.

(22,651 posts)It really would be unwise of her, Obama and anyone else associated to compromise the Russia 'thing' at this time.
Hillary's a very wise person and still can make statements/suggestions/opinions about Americans healthcare & ACA.

(18,399 posts)I think that her low key strategy is smart. She's not getting in the way of Democratic leadership, and she's not distracting from the Democratic message by making herself the focus. Her series of tweets yesterday was both on point and on message.
I've volunteered for Hillary for many years. This is not the first time I've seen her put the best interest of the country first.
It would have been nice, however, if certain Stein apologists had not worked so hard to purge any reference to Hillary by name from the Women's March official program.
They had no problem co-opting Hillary's stunningly incisive and courageous statement from the 1995 UN Conference as their overall theme, but neglected to mention the name of the woman who wrote those words and who proudly and defiantly spoke them in 1990's China for all the world to hear.

(22,651 posts)We can't post because GE is over and would be breaking rules on DU. I don't think Russia or wiki leaks had anything to do with mail-in ballots with a scribble in write-in box that invalided presidential choice or 90,000 ballots carefully filled in except president choice left blank.

(32,884 posts)We remember the work she did as "the First Lady" to get a single-payer healthcare bill passed.
Sadly it never did pass despite her awesome work.
She was working for us even then, and never got credit or appreciation either.
