Inside the Trumpcare meltdown

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by DonViejo (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Axios

When the balky hardliners of the House Freedom Caucus visited the White House earlier this week, this was Steve Bannon's opening line, according to people in the conference room in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building:

Guys, look. This is not a discussion. This is not a debate. You have no choice but to vote for this bill.

Bannon's point was: This is the Republican platform. You're the conservative wing of the Republican Party. But people in the room were put off by the dictatorial mindset.

One of the members replied: "You know, the last time someone ordered me to something, I was 18 years old. And it was my daddy. And I didn't listen to him, either."

Trumpcare did not kill enough people. So they had two reasons.

felt more like a tug-o-war between the Bannon/Mercers (backing Trump) vs the Kochs (backing Repub Congress)

That's why, like Senator Warren, I'm not ready to do a touchdown dance yet http://www.democraticunderground.com/10141737937

5. Trumps skill is not dealmaking with powerful counterparts. It is duping gullible victims.

From a David Frum tweet: "Trump’s core competency is not dealmaking with powerful counter-parties. It is duping gullible victims."

they failed 45 and he never ignores or forgets a slight. They'll be fighting among themselves all the way to 2018. Strategically, one of the best things that could happen for Dems.

Don't these fucking idiots know the executive branch does not order Congress to do anything, period, fucking full stop? It just doesn't work that way in a republican democracy....particularly OUR democratic republic. What absolute, fucking morons!!!! But in this case, thanks god for morons!!!

It was even easier years ago before they blew up ear marks.....the grease that made DC work for generations. You want my vote on a certain piece of legislation I may not like, then how about some guard rails and paving in my district. Or some local schools need some grant money to replace roofs......Not pork in the vast majority of cases....but the grease that made our government work.
