Coal executive: Trump 'can't bring mining jobs back'

The head of the largest private coal firm in the U.S. says President Trump wont be able to bring back coal industry jobs despite a push this week to deregulate fossil fuels.
Robert Murray, the founder and CEO of Murray Energy, said Trump should temper his expectations, given the way market forces rather than regulations have hurt the coal industry and reduced employment. I suggested that he temper his expectations, Murray told The Guardian. Those are my exact words. He cant bring them back.
Trump is expected to sign an executive order on Tuesday undoing several Obama-era climate regulations, including many opposed by the coal industry.
Trumps executive order is expected to direct the Environmental Protection Agency to undo the Clean Power Plan, a rule issued under Obama to cut electricity-sector carbon emissions.

(70,503 posts).... natural gas is cheaper, cleaner, and much easier to use then coal
for electrical production. The utility companies have spent billions
switching their power production stations from coal to gas and they
are not going back.
? For coal miners; Would you pay $3.50 a gallon for gas for your pick up
truck @ one station or $1.75 a gallon @ another station across the street?

(11,686 posts)Are there enough things that is used with coal to be able to sell enough to pay the miners and for all of the equipment used and still make a profit? It seems unless the clean air products we have out there were made illegal it just would not work. I may be wrong and am not understanding it but it was just a thought.
