SEATTLE (AP) — The wife of a man who was initially suspected of shooting and wounded a protester during a demonstration over the appearance of a right-wing speaker at the University of Washington has told police she was the one who fired.

The Seattle Times reports (https://goo.gl/9WosJY ) attorney Steve Wells told the newspaper that his client, 29-year-old Elizabeth Hokoana, shot the person because she believed her husband, Marc Hokoana, was in imminent danger of death or serious injury.

The incident happened Jan. 20 outside the appearance of political provocateur and Trump supporter Milo Yiannopoulos (yuh-NAH'-poh-lihs).

16. Put this in context

The was ON the day of the Inaguration, at a Yiannopolis speech. In Seattle. Antifa showed up, and there was shoving and expletives exchanged.

There were scores of police, in full riot gear, everywhere. Bike cops, mounted cops, etc. The police never used weapons. The police never used clubs or gas, that I know of.

There is no reasonable argument that self-defense was necessary except "I was scared". She panicked; she had a gun. When all you've got is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.

This was ON the UW Campus, which has a policy against carrying firearms. Yet neither of these two have been banned from campus yet.

Yet no charges have been filed. Is Seattle just lining up their ducks?
