Assange decision after Olympics: Ecuador

Ecuador will wait until the end of the Olympics on August 12 before announcing its decision on WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's asylum request, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino says.

Assange, who is wanted for questioning in Sweden over sex assault allegations, has been holed up since last month inside the Ecuadorian embassy inLondon.

Patino said on Wednesday that Ecuador will be "prudent" so as not to affect the Games.

He said he was hopeful the decision would not affect Ecuador's ties with Britain.
