Paul Ryan to Colorado supporters: I drive a truck. I used to work at McDonald’s. I like to camp. I’m you.

By Chris Moody, – 4 hrs ago

LAKEWOOD, Colo--Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan took the stage before 2,600 supporters at Lakewood High School Tuesday to promote Mitt Romney's energy proposals, but he had another agenda.

Interlaced throughout his speech were subtle, but clear, references to Ryan's common-man appeal. Over the course of his nearly 20-minute address, Ryan discussed working at McDonald's, shelling out more than $100 at the pump to fill up his gas tank, camping and fishing with his family, climbing the Colorado "14'ers"--a reference to the state's mountain peaks above 14,000 feet--and that he recently taught his boys "how to cook a meal on the fire.
"The last time I was filling my truck up, it cost 100 bucks," Ryan said. "The only reason it cost 100 bucks is because the pump cut me off at at 100 dollars. I didn't even fill the gas tank! Enough! We have our own oil and gas. We have nuclear. We have all of the above: Wind, solar, coal. Let's use it. Let's make us energy independent.

"I don't know about you," Ryan told the spirited crowd that filled the high school's gymnasium, "but when I was growing up, you know, when I was flippin' burgers at McDonald's, when I was standing in front of that big Hobart machine washing dishes or waiting tables, I never thought of myself as stuck in some station in life. I thought to myself, I'm the American dream on a path and journey so that I can find happiness however I can find it myself.

His family's construction firm is a huge national level industry. www.ryancentral.com While I applaud his time spent at a McDonald's burger fryer, this is akin to Mitt and Ann helping at a food pantry. Good resume builder but not necessary to pay the bills.....

I loved what Bill Maher said regarding Congressman Ryan & Sarah Palin...expressing confusion over why some conservatives see him as different than Sarah Palin.

"Somehow he's the smartest guy in the party and she's the stupidest woman on earth, but they agree on everything," he said.

* btw, I think we should start using Congressman Ryan vs. 'Paul' because frankly he's a Congressman and we should show respect to the group that has such a huge approval rating from America's voters...

Funny but I have never had anybody wait tables at McDonalds for me. It makes me wonder if he ever worked at McDonalds. Yes, McDonald's employees have to bus tables and clean up the mess sometimes left by customers, but wait tables -- not a chance. So, what else is Ryan lying about.

to see about a good friend of mine, who had just a few days before been very badly burned in a flash fire on a rotary drilling rig.

I was in shock at the sight or the poor old dude. Hair almost all burned away, face swollen, charred and blackened, around his dressings. All I could think of to say was, "Man, you look a hell of a lot better than that damned McRib sandwich I just ate!"

has something to do with all the booze they've consumed in their lifetimes.

If I had a "waiter" like either one of those two BOZOs, I'd be looking for a barff bag instead of a doggie bag.

Mitt would be like, "Do you have doggie bags?" Waiter "No?" "Well okay then, I guess I'll have the chicken livers!"
