Fresh from Tuesday's win, Nolan ready to face 8th District Rep. Cravaack
By Devin Henry | 09:07 am
Fresh from Tuesday's win in a three-way DFL primary, former Congressman Rick Nolan now takes on U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack in what will be one of the nation's most contested and closely watched House races.
The DFL wants to regain a seat it held for decades but lost to freshman Cravaack in 2010.
Riding the endorsement of the DFL Party, which mobilized behind him on the airwaves and on the ground in the last few weeks of the campaign, Nolan, with 38.7 percent of the vote, defeated former state Sen. Tarryl Clark (31.5 percent) and former Duluth City Council President Jeff Anderson (29.8). Both conceded defeat Tuesday night.
There are times when you have the wind in your face and times when you have the wind at your back, Nolan said. I feel that we have the wind at our back.

(45,850 posts)I knew he was an airline pilot so I had thought perhaps it was something to do with muscles in the *cough cough* sacroiliac region, but considering he's teapartier I thought that rather ummm interesting

(30,404 posts)I have a mild case of it and I use a Sleep Machine.
I put on the easy sleeping gear and it helps me to sleep at least 5 hours every night. I never was able for do that for about 8 years
It's great and I highly recommend that people that even suspect it be evaluated.

Cravaack moved to Minnesota and began working as a pilot for Northwest Airlines in 1990. He was out of work for two years in the early 1990s due to strikes, layoffs and the bankruptcy of Northwest, during which time he gave flying lessons.[5][6] He was a union steward for the Airline Pilots Association.[2][6] He served as a "strike coordinator" during the 1998 pilots' strike, bringing military discipline and parade ground style marching to the picket lines.[5] While working as a pilot for Northwest, he was noted for his determination and goal-oriented, linear thinking.[5] He and his family settled in Lindstrom, northeast of Minneapolis.[7] He retired from Northwest in 2007 due to sleep apnea, receiving a $79,000 per year medical disability pension, and becoming a stay-at-home dad for a time.[2][5] In addition, Cravaack has said he drew unemployment benefits during a furlough from Northwest in the early 1990s.

With APNEA and they are treatable.
Granted they were not associated with flying.

"Rep. Chip Cravaack is a 24 year Navy veteran, and he is the third generation of his family to serve in the United States military. His experience as a Navy helicopter pilot and Northwest Airlines pilot gave him the opportunity to experience and live in multiple areas of the United States, as well as travel to many foreign countries. Chip decided, however, to make Northeast Minnesota his permanent home. He was immediately drawn to the beauty of the 32nd state and the excellent communities found in the 8th District."

(8,676 posts)Cravaack Announced His Family Would Be Relocating to New Hampshire. On July 16, after a mere six months in office representing Minnesotas eighth congressional district, Cravaack announced that he was setting up his reelection campaign sooner than expected and that his wife and children will be moving to New Hampshire, where theyll purchase a home. [Duluth News Tribune, 7/16/11; Seniority List of the House of Representatives, 7/19/11]
Cravaack is Dividing His Time Between Washington, New Hampshire, and Minnesota. According to the Duluth News Tribune Cravaack has said he tries to spend at least one day each week with his family in New Hampshire and at least one in Minnesota when Congress is in session. When not in session, his staff said Cravaack spends the entire work week in the 8th District. [Duluth News Tribune, 2/23/12]
Cravaack Criticized His Former Opponent for Living Outside Minnesota. In 2010, Cravaack criticized Rep. Oberstar for living in Potomac, Maryland, rather than Minnesotas Duluth-based 8th District. I was shocked to find out he lives in a million-dollar home in Potomac, Maryland, Cravaack said. [Politico, 10/18/10; Duluth News Tribune, 4/07/10]
