Americans Think Mitt Romney Would Favor Rich as President

Source: US News and World Report

The rich are smart and willing to work hard, but they're also not the most ethical people, and the Republican Party wants to help them out.

At least, that's the American public's view of the rich, according to new polling data from the Pew Research Center. And those attitudes could have a profound impact on a presidential election where one of the candidates is known for his vast wealth.

The data show that 71 percent of Americans think Romney's policies would help the wealthy, while 31 percent think they would help the poor. The numbers for President Barack Obama are opposite; 60 percent believe he would help poor people, and 37 percent say the rich.

In addition, a majority of Americans--63 percent--believe the Republican Party favors the rich, while just 23 percent say the middle class and 3 percent say the poor. Meanwhile, 35 percent of Americans believe that Democrats favor the middle class, and 32 percent believe that Democrats favor the poor. Only 20 percent believe that Democrats favor the rich.

at least a million dollars in bribes, forget about trying to influence Republican policymaking." Nothing can change the anti-alternative-energy policies the Koch brothers bought to protect subsidies for increasing fossil fuel dependency. Nothing can change turning Medicare into corporate welfare bought by Big Pharma and insurance, etc., etc.

so close to Pres Obama in these polls.

You're telling me that 71% believe this. Not to mention Mittens low favorable numbers. And he could still be running close to a President with close to a 50% approval rating? I don't see it

so all I can see is... well, 25% or so of that 71% don't like Robmehood, but still have no idea they can vote against him.

Hence the close to 100 million who never dare to bother enough to exercise their right to vote.

They honestly think that the rich SHOULD be helped because eventually it will help them, and vote against their own interests time and again. If they didn't, Democrats would control everything forever.

Working hard defeats the whole point of being rich. Maybe their grandparents worked hard to start the original family business. But you think Mitt or Ann Romney ever raised a blister?

The hardest working people I ever knew were poor people, who would try to fix their own automatic transmission because they couldn't afford to take their broken-down car to the repair shop, and sure couldn't afford a new (used) car that actually ran. But they had trouble finding time what with two minimum wage jobs to work at. (Two jobs and still poor. "How uniquely American.&quot

And many of the rich are neither especially smart nor willing to work hard. Many just got lucky.

how many people 'think' they are rich or 'will be rich within the next x years' and will therefore vote for Mitt ANYWAY?
