Mitt Romney: Abortion Rights Are Not On The Ballot This Fall

Source: TPM

AMPA, Fla. — Attempting once again to deflect questions about abortion rights raised in the wake of Todd Akin and the draft GOP platform, Mitt Romney suggested to CBS News Monday that abortion rights are mostly outside the president’s purview.

Abortion rights advocates are scratching their heads at that one.

“Recognize this is the decision that will be made by the Supreme Court,” Romney told CBS. “The Democrats try and make this a political issue every four years, but this is a matter in the courts. It’s been settled for some time in the courts.”

Romney also reaffirmed his view that abortion should be legal in the case of rape, incest and when the health of the mother is at stake, a view that puts him to the left of his party’s platform (which is silent on any exceptions to an abortion ban) and his running mate (who opposes all abortion except in some cases where the mother’s health is on the line).

All his policy positions are now classified.

That would be classified on a "buy to know" basis. If you contribute enough money to the campaign, he'll whisper it to you. Hell, if you contribute enough, YOU get to set the policy.

http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/26/romney-two-lives-at-stake-in-abortion-i-care-about-both/

The SBA List president writes: “In a post on National Review Online last June, Governor Romney committed himself to the pro-life position and called Roe v. Wade “bad law and bad medicine.” He didn’t stop there. Rather than just check the pro-life box, Governor Romney went on to make concrete commitments.”

The commitments include de-funding Planned Parenthood and abortion, stopping promotion of abortion overseas, signing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to ban late-term abortions in the nation’s capital, appoint constitutionalist justices to the Supreme Court, and selecting a pro-life vice-presidential running mate.

“Governor Romney has made it clear that he is the pro-life candidate in this race — which is why the SBA List Board of Directors voted unanimously to stand behind him in April. It is the responsibility of all pro-life voters to now unite behind Governor Romney. Together we can put a pro-life leader in the White House,” Dannenfelser said.

That's why many Dem. activists have decided NOT to challenge some state law changes that they believe are unconstitutional. They fear that such a ruling would be appealed to the SC, which with the conservative cabal, would be only too happy to overturn the decision and Roe v. Wade in the process.

Rachel Maddow featured this argument maybe six months ago on her show.

Lying for the Lord. The main objective is to get him in office, doesn't matter how. Whatever the current hot-button is, Mitt is sure to take whatever stance is required to calm the masses so they will vote for him. After he is elected, he will do whatever his masters tell him to do as he has no moral fiber of his own. The rub is that we as voters are not given sufficient or truthful information upon which to base our votes. I'm sure the Founding Fathers didn't have this in mind.
