Michael Savage leaves radio show after legal win

Source: Associated Press

Michael Savage's talk show left the airwaves Thursday after the conservative host won a legal battle with his longtime employer, although his attorney said discussions with new networks are already under way.

Savage posted a message on his website Thursday evening under the headline "Free at Last!" that said he was free to work with any station or network from now on. He said he "will not be heard on the radio for some time."

His attorney Daniel Horowitz said Savage left Talk Radio Network after obtaining a favorable ruling in arbitration Thursday afternoon.

More than 8 million people listen to Savage's show each week, placing him behind only Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity in ratings, according to the magazine Talkers. The immediate effect that his abrupt departure would have on companies that advertise on his show was unclear.

It's like stream of consciousness raving, with a really ugly politics behind it.

People he doesn't like are "vermin," "scum," "filth."

Obama is a "communist Islamist." He really says, or rather, spews, shit like that on a regular basis.

I know what you mean about the strange fascination. Words flow from his soul that are hateful against liberals but he says it in a way that makes him sound as if he is joking. He is the only wing nut that is not totally ignorant, loves animals and believes in global warming. I never really listened to a whole show and only catch it once in a while in a car but for some reason I can listen to him where as Limbaugh, Hannity, and most others make me sick and I turn them off immediately. I HATE what he says but I can listen and that had me worried, lol. Glad to see some other normal person has listened too.

His voice and ideas are mentally ill nails on a chalkboard. Yes, He certainly promotes a positive image of Israel and Bibi. HOw many times did I hear him call Muslims names like vermin, Pond sucking scum, towelheads ect.. Loved the way he expressed his Jewishness on moist every show. oy,oy oy he would say. He was no friend of gays or feminists. I found him amusing because you dont hear many Jewish right wing talkers. Your right he does talk that way about progressive Jewish people. He speaks proudly about his parents and how hard they worked. He favors hard liners such as Kristol,Cantor, Wolfwitz ect. To him they are true Americans. He lives in San Francisco which I find amusing because it is one of the most liberal cities.

A long time ago, when DU did Top 10 Conservative Idiots, the Savage Wiener was featured when 2 DU'ers sighted him @ Pier 39 being super nasty to a busboy. They recognized his mean voice, because basically he was ranting the same way he does on the radio.

I have to wonder if he lives here because all of us happy liberals fuel his rage and bitterness. This is a small town as compared to NYC or LA or Boston, but those places have far more sanctuaries for Repigs. They're pretty lonely in SF.

My search on YouTube found that Talk Radio Network played a best-of compilation for the Wednesday Savage Nation.

I have sometimes listened to Savage (who's from my area...yikes) to get the latest right wing perspectives. Savage seems like a nice guy when talking about life and everyday topics but in political topics he starts sounding like an evangelical preacher with a John Birch Society membership card. ANYONE who strays from the "faith, family, and freedom" Christian patriot position is a COMMUNIST, VERMIN, insert nasty word here in his book.

Savage has called on the arrest and child porn prosecution of the photographer of the controversial breastfeeding Newsweek cover:

Also here is an example of how he argues with liberal callers. This one where he says Obama shouldn't be allowed to be president because his association with Bill Ayers meant Obama can't even be an FBI agent (since when were FBI agents elected officials?)

And of course Savage is OBSESSED with Obama's college transcripts:

However, he does have occasional good ideas like the war on Iraq being mistake, imposing tariffs on China, and reinstating the Glass Steagall Act.

Check out this RationalWiki article I wrote debunking claims about Obama from Savage's 2010 book Trickle Up Poverty.

for that sick facination thing. But lately he just has had guest lecturers in there, with Michael's canned responces placed in there to give the illusion of a two-way conversation. It comes across as lazy, like this overpaid prick can't even be bothered to bring himself into the office. That show had a following throughout the West Coast due to KGO's 50 kW blowtorch signal reaching far beyond the SF Bay Area at night.)
