RNC Chair Reverses Course, Says Republican Party Will ‘Absolutely’ Support Todd Akin

Source: ThinkProgress

-snip-

Today, after Akin stayed in the race and polls showing it tied, Priebus took a far different tone:
Asked directly if he considered Akin to be a better option for Missouri voters than McCaskill, Priebus did not hesitate.

“Well, absolutely,” he said in the interview. “That’s a given, and as chairman of the party, I have an obligation to make sure we win as many seats in the Senate as possible.”

Akin again grabbed headlines this week when he told a reporter after a debate that Sen. McCaskill is not as “ladylike” as she was six years ago.

Rinse Pubis, however, doesn't grasp the fact that Akin self-destructs every time he opens his trap. He is an idiot, and no amount of money will make Missouri overlook that.

if a Democratic candidate said something this idiotic, the party, and all of us, would condemn and abandon that candidate. The Republicans, however, don't care how stupid their people are, as long as there is an "R" after their name.

11. Well, as a practical matter, what choice do they have?

he is the candidate on their ticket in a state they want to win, if they want control of the Senate. I read where their Senate Committee will not be sending any money, but I doubt if that makes much difference. Senator Blunt said he would support him, former Senator Bond said the same, former Senator Danforth went the other way and said no.

He will still get a whole lot of votes because the GOP voters want to get rid of McCaskill, not because they particularly like Akin.

12. McCaskill who isn't loved here will get votes from many here simply because they hate Akin

I don't think voters really like either, they'll vote for the candidate that least offends them
