Nov 3 (Reuters) - New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on Saturday said he has ordered county clerks to open their offices on Saturday and Sunday to allow early voting for residents affected by superstorm Sandy.

The storm devastated the eastern part of the state, leaving at least 22 dead and more than 1 million customers still without power.

The governor also said paper ballots would be made available on Election Day, Tuesday, at polling stations that still do not have power.

He also said the state will soon have more than 11,000 utility workers on the job of restoring power. Nearly 1.3 million New Jersey electricity customers, about one third of the state, remained without power as of Saturday, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

what they did to Charlie Crist. It was not Crist hugging Obama, it was this: On October 28, 2008 Crist extended early voting hours of operation and declared that a "state of emergency exists" due to record voter turnout and resultant hours-long waits at locations throughout the state. Some Republican operatives were disappointed with the decision, including one anonymous source who said "He just blew Florida for John McCain.

for 2016. And don't fall for his attempts to appear fairly moderate. He is a wolf in sheep's clothing. He agrees with the Tea Party nut cases on most issues.

Hindreds of thousands in Nj are wondering will we be able to vote on Tuesday. The power outages are not disproportionally skewed against Dems, Sandy's effects affecs are pretty evenly distributed. That being said, those who can get to county clerks offices may favor repubs but in large, this state is all Obama, it's in the bag here.

Christie ordered "early voting" of sorts; See http://co.monmouth.nj.us/page.aspx?ID=4101 for Monmouth County info.

BTW, only the coastal towns still have the 7PM curfew; the rest of us are free and clear.
