MIAMILike many Cuban-Americans here, Mark Blanco says he grew up in a strictly Republican family that revered Ronald Reagan and reliably voted for GOP candidates every election.
So he says his grandfather fumed when Mr. Blanco told him he was casting a ballot for President Barack Obama on Election Day. "He was very heated and red in the face," said Mr. Blanco, 33 years old. "He thinks Obama is a socialist."

(17,390 posts)During the mid-terms, Republican Governors often cannot resist pandering to the racist vote in mid-term elections by blaming minorities for all that ails their State. They calculate that Hispanics will not turnout during these years.

They don't carry all the baggage of hatred, that maybe their parents or grandparents do/did of Castro.
And then there is the hatred here, of anyone of color, by the Pukes and Baggers.
I hope that it's a strong trend.

(66 posts)But he's a republican and he's still not changing any time soon. He was born in Cuba and grew up in Miami and here in LA. He actually was liberal when he went to UCLA in the early 70s too bad I can't change him back. But good for those Floridians. It keeps getting better for us dems.
