Petraeus took mistress, Paula Broadwell, to Paris on government-funded trip: Report
Source: Global Post
More juicy details are emerging of the affair between CIA chief David Petraeus and his biographer, Paula Broadwell.
Ellen ConnollyNovember 12, 2012 09:50
General David Petraeus flew his mistress to Paris with him when he was appointed director of the Central Intelligence Agency, an unnamed source has claimed.
According to Buzzfeed, married biographer Paula Broadwell accompanied the esteemed military leader on a government-funded trip to the City of Lights in July 2011, while her husband cared for their two children at home.
As the fall-out from the scandal continues, family and friends are offering support to Petraeus's wife of 38 years, Holly, who is understandably embarrassed, furious and deeply hurt. ...

Sources who long feared him have already begun to leak salacious details; one told me this weekend that he took Broadwell along with him on a government-funded trip to Paris in July 2011.
But, I would think someone could check this out.

This article] identifies a number of inconsistencies in unnamed sources. For example, most newspapers report that the shirtless FBI agent was removed from the case but the NY magazine filmed 2 days ago removing boxes from the Broadwell's house.
The time lines vary with some claiming Broadwell first confessed to the affair in the summer while others put in October and NYT stated it was in September. Why would the FBI find evidence of classified info on her computer a month or more ago and then wait until 2 days ago to pick it up?
and Allen - Kelleys 20,000-30,000 pages of documents over a 3 year period? That's 18-40 emails per day. That's very bizarre or inaccurate IMO

(9,893 posts)it's kind of dumb to be hauling your extra-martial partner around on your employer's business.
It will be found out, and you may lose everything.
However, the only possible link to the Benghazi issue is the speech that Broadwell made to a Univ. of Denver audience that could be interpreted as claiming that the CIA Annex in B-Z was holding permanent prisoners against our President's 2009 directive. If the CIA is acting in contravention of the President, that clearly is a problem. But I think here that the story has devolved to a story pertaining solely to the prurient interest.

(836 posts)I am thinking this alleged time frame is when he was still in the military - July 2011 - meaning if there was an affair at that point,
then, he was committing a crime according to news reports.
Other reports have claimed the start of this alleged affair to be Sept 2011 when he became head of the CIA.
In addition, if there was an affair, and if there was a crime being committed, I can tell you that I do not want
my taxes paying his romp in Paris. I would think that is another crime, again, if true.
So, if true -- I think this is REALLY bad news for the general.

(7,403 posts)In what capacity would Broadwell have access to internal CIA operations and why would she reveal something so sensitive, perhaps classified. Indeed, why was she even speaking in Denver. Was it to sell her book. Maybe someone needs to read that book and find out what other beans she may have spilled.
Then if this is not enough, we now learn that Jill Kelley, the woman that Broadwell sent the threating email's to wasn't so innocent after all. It seems that she and the current commander in Afghanistan, Gen. Allen, have been having an affair of their own so Broadwell's concerns may have been well placed. I wondered why Kelley lawyered up at the same time as Broadwell lawyered up.
The way things are going, it would not surprise me if other women step forward with stories of their own. Thanks Viagra, for helping keep us entertained.

(7,403 posts)Warning him to steer clear of Jill Kelley. In a sense, this puts Broadwell in a good light for a change. Especially if the speculation about Kelley's intentions in the dailykos link pans out. It is also interesting how well all of these people knew one another, how to contact them personally, etc., especially considering that they had no official capacity

(836 posts)I thought something like that with respect to what is in that Kos piece you posted.
Also this:
I thought it quite weird what the judge in the child custody case concluded about
Jill and her sister. I read in a newspaper the judge did NOT award custody of the young child to the mother
(Jill's sister) in her divorce case, and instead awarded FULL custody to the father.
The reason given by the judge was this: Jill is not a credible witness (and is a liar), as Jill lied when she testified
the husband had pushed the twin sister/mother down the stairs.
So, in short, despite this testimony from Jill (which the judge says is a lie), AND as we now find out,
despite TWO character witnesses for the sisters WHO ARE IN THE US MILITARY WITH THE RANK OF GENERAL --
Jill's sister lost custody of her kid in her divorce.
Very weird and very odd, the whole thing. Because it sounds like the judge was DISMISSING the testimony of
TWO generals along with Jill's testimony.

I guess I am just jaded to this sort of thing. but he isn't the first and he won't be the last. and my Prediction the one who is pushing this the hardest in Washington is probably cheating on his wife too!

(836 posts)I read somewhere that the woman in Tampa was a witness in her twin sister's
custody battle, and her testimony was deemed not credible, so her twin sister lost
custody of her young kid. If she is a liar, then - I am thinking there may be no emails
ever given to the FBI guy who is now deemed to have been shirtless at one time and
is not named anywhere. It seems like too many weird things are going on.
