Jesse Jackson Jr. To Resign.....

Source: Chicago Tribune

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. will announce his resignation from Congress today in a letter to House Speaker John Boehner, Jackson's brother Jonathan Jackson said.

He spoke to the Chicago Tribune by telephone.

The congressman could not be reached for confirmation. Boehner's office also could not be immediately reached.

Jackson, 47, a South Side Democrat, has been treated for bipolar depression and has been on a medical leave from Congress since June. He has been under investigation by federal authorities for alleged misuse of campaign dollars and also has faced a congressional ethics probe.

and you must admit, OJ Simpson was found innocent of all charges. NOT GUILTY

I would have ruled against that white haired old cop though if he were on trial, especially if they brought up his past oddities including mishandling the Sharon Tate murders.

a few days or a week or two after, I happened to be walking in NYC on the upper east side and saw him and his wife, walking non-chalantley hand in hand kissing like teenagers.

I am no longer in the conspiracy theory business.

However, for the life of me, the two did not look like their was a scandal just a few weeks earlier.

It looked more like a threat had passed and their safety now assured or something.

(i.e.-like he was set up and forced to admit to something not true, by the Bush PTB.)

almost as if the secret that might have been exposed had nothing to do with him at all.
He just copped to it to protect someone else.

because there were no cameras around. There were no people but regular NYers in the area.
NO reporters around.

It's a simple yes and no question

something you have asked me about 110 times in the 100% of the posts I made in the gunny place that were all anti-NRA and anti-gun.

If you or your buds say that someone who is guilty is guilty or quits must be guilty, then I am asking you this Thanksgiving season, when people talk pardons/commutings

is Siegleman guilty or not guilty

Does Siegleman deserve to be in jail or doesn't he?

Our law is our law.

And you don't have to be black to be lynched as Mathew Shepard and Sieglman have found out.

Same people want Susan Rice to quit too

How many lynchings do we need in America?
Was Rodney King given what he deserved too?

Reminds me of the vigillante in Florida that killed an unarmed innocent kid that might have cured cancer in the coming years, but is now dead.
Trayvon Martin was lynched.

how the NYC cops support the blue wall of silence no matter if someone shoots an innocent man 50 times or not) like they raped that Dialo in the police station

Me, I will support Rev. Jackson and his family. Rev. Jackson after all was on the terrace with Dr. King that fateful day in Memphis.

He'd be rightfully pilloried in the press, and it would give the republicans an excuse to continue their obstruction.

triple-j is an asshat-and-a-half, and never should have run for re-election in the first place.

the voice that will replace his and congressperson will also be black- but it might not be male.

Wed Nov 21, 2012, 06:19 PM
Nov 2012

I am sure his condition will be taken into account at sentencing.

You can't give people a pass for this type of thing just because of their race, but mental illness is very real and may in his case be a strongly contributing cause. I don't know the particulars.

One can have sympathy, but one cannot say that this sort of thing is acceptable. Let's just quote the gentleman himself:
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-34222_162-57553250-10391739/rep-jesse-jackson-jr-resigns/

"I am aware of the ongoing federal investigation into my activities and I am doing my best to address the situation responsibly, cooperate with the investigators, and accept responsibility for my mistakes, for they are my mistakes and mine alone," Jackson wrote.

The person who's mom was run over by the politicians son (and the daughter of Brody was a passenger in the car) was paid a visit by her.

The daughter of the dead mother said get out of my house and STFU becaue I will lose my settlement millions if I talk or anyone catches wind of what was done

Now leave my house she pleaded

We will never know what happened, and it was not Al's business anyhow.

It is not a lawyer's job to care anyhow. It is however, the lawyer's job to defend a client no matter what and to try to get a client off.

And yes, Maddox and Mason were two more black men that got taken down. Both could have been senator, governor, mayor, president if they weren't taken down too.

Just another day in America.

Until President Obama overcame all those that were taken down.
May we defend Susan Rice forever.

edit to add- most people say Homeland is the single most realistic political story ever shown as fiction on tv. I know its a tv show and fiction, but it might as well be real, that is how realistic it is.

97. A male always must back a female who cries rape. 100% of the time.
Thu Nov 22, 2012, 11:15 AM
Nov 2012

and I don't hold it against Rev. Sharpton. If a man doesn't back a woman who cries rape, nobody would be able to protect women ever.

(or do you also back Akin? One is the same as the other. Either rape is rape or it isn't).

It is very unhealthy to hold such long term grudges over things they aren't privy to anyhow.

It was dumb ass grudges that caused people to toss LBJ in the river and allow Nixon/Bush/Reagan to enter the presidency over a little wedge issue that in the scheme of things mattered little to all the social issues in America's history.

The long ball is more important than any specific item.

(Same as a drowning man being blamed for a drowning woman that would not have been saved anyhow. All people wanted was for Teddy to drown himself. )

Keeping ones eye on the prize is far more meaningful than "doing the Dukakis".

and yet some back the cold blooded killing of Mr. Trayvon Martin, who died solely because he was black in a state where racism is alive and daily shown to be.

Thu Nov 22, 2012, 11:23 AM

She said she was raped.

We must always back and believe someone who says they were raped

Either that, or one would side with Akin.

there is no other answer when someone says they were raped.

rape is rape.

If a woman says they were raped, I for one believe them. Any civilized man or woman would.
Because once you say you don't believe it, then no one would believe any woman who says they were raped.

again, you keep bringing up these things then you say the thread is not about that.
Then don't bring the things up in the first place if you don't want someone providing examples saying it is not true.

And we shall never know the truth anyhow. Just because she backed off it, don't mean she wasn't paid to back off it, perhaps by the NYS police or something.

We don't know the truth

and besides one always must back a person who says they were raped.
Or nobody would ever be believed.

To me its the same situation that we had with "Dollar" Bill Jefferson in NOLA. They guy was a crook, he had 80,000 cash in his freezer, and had the hubris to run for re-election. Its one of the few times I've ever voted for (a fairly moderate) R candidate, who won the election.

That seat was in a Gerrymandered 75+% black district, and although we've since recaptured it, it was a terrible thing to do to his constituents and party.

Depression over getting caught. He's crooked as a bolt of lightning, and he wasn't even half-way through his first term when the investigation started, I believe. There were rumors of his crookedness even while he was campaigning, and the same for his wife, too.

It's no conspiracy against an African American man. This is a crooked pol who's going to take a plea deal in order to avoid spending more time in jail.

I can't believe Alan Grayson supported him for re-election.

58. If you suffered from bi-polar disorder, you might not be so flip...
Wed Nov 21, 2012, 05:59 PM
Nov 2012

I used to work with people who suffered from bi-polar disorder (formerly known as manic-depression.) It is very common for people who suffer from this disorder to go on crazy spending sprees, or spend lots of money that they don't have, while in the manic phase of their illness. I had one guy who was a stable family man and went to prison for writing bad checks while on bizarre shopping sprees. Buying stuff that he gave to others, often strangers.

It is also a very hard to properly medicate. Lithium works for many, but the side effects make it difficult for many to take, and the dosage needs to me monitored closely because the sufferer's brain chemistry can change drastically. The other really sad side effect is that once a person becomes stable, they decide that they don't need to continue taking their meds. Then they relapse, and the whole process starts over.

Maybe he is just another crooked politician, maybe not. But I don't see the need for you to behave like a republican about it. That is a mental illness also, ya know.
