(21,639 posts)One of the less-mentioned ulterior motives Jr. has for wanting Trump elected, is that he's a gold bug - i.e. he believes we should revert to the gold standard.
It would, as anyone with at least an Econ 101 knows (and as Julius Caesar found out too late), lead to a deep, immediate and prolonged depression.
But elites have warmed to the idea in recent years, because they understand that it would give them a monopoly on, well, everything.
Shanahan's probably on the same page (Trump, of course, is).

(20,204 posts)I suppose he could do damage in AZ and GA. He's on the NH ballot too.
Fiendish Thingy
(15,626 posts)All he (along with Stein and No Labels) has to do is peel off 2-3,000 Biden votes each , out of 5-7 million votes, and Trump wins.

(54,027 posts)People hearing him and learning what he stands for is our best hope against him drawing Democratic votes
Theres no evidence that Kennedy will take more votes from Biden than he will from Trump, in fact, the opposite is probably the case given his anti-vax stance.

(92,242 posts)succeed in the electoral college in some very critical states.
In 2016 in every critical swing state, Hillary lost by less than 1%, while Jill Stein received 1% of the vote in those critical swing states.
It didn't take much.
I guess for some third-party candidates, they don't care being spoilers in one of the most dangerous times in American where we can lose our Democracy.
The only thing a third party candidate will do is act as a spoiler, because the way our elections are run through the electoral college, there is no way they will win.

I mean the guy isn't even in the ballot in all 50 states. Mathematically it is impossible for him to win or really to even play spoiler. This run for office is ridiculous.
radical noodle
(8,003 posts)Biden only won Georgia by less than 12,000 votes in 2020. RFK, Jr could easily get enough votes in Georgia to give trump the win there. Any of the close swing states could be thrown.
Remember what Nader did to Gore.
angrychair
(8,702 posts)But honestly that was unexpected for Biden to win those in 2020. As long as he holds his other states he still wins.
I think the "uncommitted" vote gave all they got in the primary and at least half of them will vote for Biden in the GE no matter what.
Plus I think comments like "bloodbath" are going to have a significant impact with independents and those Republicans on the fence.
One thing all Americans have in common, we don't like to be threatened. Comments like that will absolutely push fence sitting Republicans more towards Biden or at the least, not vote at all.
radical noodle
(8,003 posts)Still, I'd like to see a sweeping victory for Biden this time because I don't think I can live through another days-long count/recount like last time.

(8,702 posts)It literally won't matter a single vote. Especially considering he is on the ballot in AZ, GA, NH and HI. That's it. It will have zero impact in HI and NH. They are solid "D" votes.
You cannot count on winning GA or AZ again as it's incredibly unlikely. Plus, as long as Biden holds all the other states he won in 2020, he still wins without them.
To be honest, I'm more confident than ever that Biden will win.
The "Bloodbath" comment was a HUGE miscalculation on his part. Americans don't like being threatened. This will push Independents and fence sitting Republicans far away from TFG. Like far away. He is sealing his own fate with his incoherent and inflammatory rhetoric.

(8,721 posts)Especially the swing states. Pulling 10% in some like NC, Arizona & Nevada. Some of this will be from Trump but 1% or possibly 2% could be from Biden.
angrychair
(8,702 posts)But to be honest he doesn't need any of those states to win.
There is no state in which he is on the ballot that is of any consequence.

(54,027 posts)I haven't found what she's done or what she does yet, but she sure does marry well.
{on edit} Okay, that was unfair. She's a very Left Coast lawyer who supports a few Eco causes. She's a tech entrepreneur who founded a company that manages patents using AI so that inventors can maximize their profits. That's cool. It doesn't sound nine to five. But there's nothing wrong with making a lot of money in life.
She divorced Sergey Brin from Google, then says she did not have an affair with Elon Musk, just sought advice from him on how to raise her autistic child (!) (there's your RFKJ connection), and now is married to a "reformed Wall Street guy", which I guess means rich, handsome, and retired.
I'm sure they dabble in investments here and there, but I don't see that she has a career or cause, except perhaps a deranged belief about how her child caught autism, which is sooo unfair to her.
