Bannon says House Republicans secretly want Trump to lose

Source: The Hill

04/22/24 11:02 PM ET

Steve Bannon, former President Trump’s 2016 campaign executive, railed against House Republicans on Monday, claiming that they “want MAGA to go away” and wish to see the former president lose his 2024 White House bid.

“Why does [Rep. Jim] Jordan [R-Ohio] not have a criminal conspiracy investigation— from Fani Willis in Georgia to ‘Big Tish James’ in New York City?” Bannon asked on his “War Room” podcast. “The Justice Department, why have they not been sent letters— ‘Preserve your documents.’ Why have hearings not gone on? Why have they not broken these things up? You know why. Because they don’t really have Trump’s back,” Bannon continued.

The conservative pundit tore into House Judiciary Committee chairman, Jim Jordan, arguing that the Ohio Republican’s support of Trump has been entirely “performative.” “Don’t go on ‘Hannity’ and tell me everything you are gonna do and send some tweets,” Bannon quipped. “Nothing’s happening to support President Trump. Let me repeat that. Nothing,” he concluded.

Bannon’s comments come amid growing criticism of Republican leadership, with several lawmakers backing calls to oust Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).

They see the Trump boat most likely to be sinking at this point (just like "investors" in DJT stock). While they aren't throwing concrete blocks on it to help sink it, they are quietly putting on their lifejackets and slowly swimming away so they don't get sucked down with it. The few remaining believers (Kari Lake, MTG, etc) are all in, as they have nothing else to sell.

He's always been a liar, and the Defendant is the biggest liar of them all. The whole MAGA movement is built on a foundation of lies.

The Justice Dept has been slow and far too deferential to the Defendant, and Bannon wants THEM investigated?

It ain't happenin because lies can't gain traction when real evidence is required in a court of law.

Bannon was indicted by a federal grand jury on two criminal charges of contempt of Congress or the United States Capitol attack.. In July 2022, he was convicted on both counts in a jury trial. He was sentenced on October 21, 2022, to four months in prison and a $6,500 fine]
He is appealing against his conviction and sentence, and his sentence was put on hold pending the appeal.

For contempt of congress. Unfortunately, a judge suspended his sentence pending appeal due to alleged constitutional issues.

trouble... I see this as just another verse in stochastic violence. He's goading the House to do more for Trump and informing the magats they need to start doing something to protect trump... not just sit by while he's in court. He's basically ratcheting up his anarchy goading talk. I think when we get to the other trials, Bannon is going to be implicated and he's begun to worry... worry especially because his vision of chaotic dictatorship seems to be fast losing viabilit. At least I can hope it is.

It's available free on Sling and for $3.99 on various streaming platforms.

It's also available on Kanopy for 2 tickets. Now they give you 5 tickets per month, and different films "cost" different numbers of tickets. It looks like their overall offerings have expanded. All kid friendly programs are zero tickets.

Too much baggage there.

The GOP needs to reinvent itself somehow if it is to survive.

Any political party focussed on doom and gloom and 'No You Can't!' shouldn't expect to have much of a future.

Perhaps the GOP should let Biden win the upcoming election, so they have 4 years to reinvent themselves.

High on their list should be finding some members who have humanity, humility and some actual leadership potential.
