Gov. John Kasich will sign off on changes to Ohio gun law

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Despite a last minute push to urge Gov. John Kasich to veto House Bill 495, which changes the way people can carry guns in vehicles and where vehicles with guns could park, the governor’s office says he will sign the legislation.

On Sunday, the Dean of Cleveland’s Trinity Cathedral called on the governor to veto the changes in the wake of the tragedy in Newtown Connecticut.

Rev. Tracey Lind saying allowing guns in state parking garages, like the ones under the state house would put “at risk thousands of Ohio school children every year who come to our statehouse,” she said.

“I think it’s time that we all be able to stand up to the gun lobby and say enough,” said Lind. “I think it’s time for us to have a real conversation both at the state level and at the federal level about real gun reform, about violence in America, about what’s making people want to do this sort of violence and how can we curb that.”

Kasich intends to sign gun bill, rejecting call for a veto in wake of Connecticut shootings

December 17, 2012 at 6:30 PM

Columbus -- Gov. John Kasich said Monday he intends to sign a new concealed carry law allowing guns into the Statehouse parking garage, rejecting a call to veto the bill in the wake of last week's shootings in Connecticut.

The Republican governor is expected to sign the legislation this week, which allows guns for the first time in the parking garages which run underneath the state Capitol in Columbus. Gun owners would have to keep their weapons in their cars as guns are forbidden within the walls of the Statehouse.

Did you purchase this site from Mr. Allen?...or did he deputize you to issue nastygrams to new people? Thanks for the nice welcome anyway. I've never belonged to the NRA but I'm thinking seriously of joining just to piss off some fascists. BWAHAHAHA

BTW, I've owned guns for probably many more years than you've been alive (over 60) and not one of them ever harmed any person and neither you nor anyone else is going to divest me of them...and yes I am a loyal Democrat when it comes to voting. Sometimes I hold my nose at the polls, though.

Also, what happened to all those shootouts that were supposed to break out in bars when Arizona and Tennessee legalized the possession of guns there? These scare tactics aren't working. The fact is these people going through the legal process to obtain their firearms are not the people we need to be worrying about.

the national database for individual sellers so buyers can be checked for criminal or insane backgrounds. Other than that, I strenuously oppose any further unnecessary laws that wouldn't accomplish anything useful. Doesn't the fact that 99.9999% of gun owners never cause any problems mean something to you?

I have a feeling, despite assholes like Kasich and ole Louie Gohmert, things just might change this time, at least a bit.

I hate to even think this, much less say it, but I asked my husband if he thought the reaction would be different if these were children of color. He said he had no idea and neither do I.
