Police seek person who tied 1-year-old dog to fence and set it on fire

Source: Palm Beach Post

By Toni-Ann Miller

Dave Walesky, captain of Palm Beach Animal Care and Control, is no stranger to vicious crimes against animals, but this week he’s had to deal with one of the most gruesome cases he’s ever seen.

On Monday night, Riviera Beach Police and fire rescue crews were called to the 1600 block of West 27th Street to reports of a structure fire. They arrived and saw the fire. What they also saw was a light-colored, 1-year-old pit bull terrier among the flames.

It had been hung there on a chain fence, tied by a leash, doused in gasoline and set on fire.

Palm Beach Animal Care and Control was called to the scene.

FULL story at link.

Officials need your help to solve horrific act of animal cruelty.

On Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control (AC&C) officers responded to a call involving a one-year-old, male, pit bull terrier that had been intentionally tethered to a chain link fence and set on fire. The dog, which was deceased when officers arrived, was wearing a bright blue, nylon buckle collar, and had been tied to the fence with a leash. The crime occurred in a common area near the 1600 block of W 27thStreet in Riviera Beach.

AC&C staff veterinarians, using forensic technology, later determined that the dog was alive when it was set on fire and this is what ultimately led to its death.Investigators at AC&C are asking the public to please call in with any information regarding this horrific crime.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477). All callers can remain anonymous. The public can also call Animal Care and Control at (561) 233-1200, extension 0.

Tidus was so badly burned in the senseless attack and subsequently now has sadly passed away due to the injuries he sustained.
We demand action on this act of cruelty to honor poor sweet Tidus , and also so that no more innocent pets have to suffer like Tidus did.
Sincerely..

RIP TO TIDUS....may he run free...we love you! TIDUS very very sadly has lost his fight for life. May this sweet dog run forever free at the Rainbow Bridge..xox

but don't tell the offender that the "punishers" would have paramedics and fire extinguishers standing by (just out of sight) to put the fire out almost immediately after it was started ...

... a magnifying glass, a microscope. Eff the main stream press. We are getting more news online than we ever have before in print, or on the canned TV news. Even though this is the saddest news we could hear, by God we're getting the effing news. We are seeing our whole country without censorship.

Now, as for this poor dog... the fellow or gal who did this is a psychopath. This is what they do. They are unrelentingly cruel to animals. We've got violent psychopaths going crazy all over the place. Killing pets, killing innocents in theaters and high schools and elementary schools, in Malls as people are Christmas shopping. Dayyyyam! I think it's about time we try to identify the psychopaths and do something about THEM.

of another terrible thing. i haven't shared it with anyone because nearly all of us in my circle are pet rescue folks and i do not want to upset them as i have been. i live in a rural community.

a woman up the road from me - whose home burned to the ground thanksgiving weekend - deliberately locked her big, old dog in the house while it was burning and then safely fled the fire with her "precious" belongings. when asked by fire fighters if there were any other people or pets in the house she answered "i will tell you about it on monday". when the embers had cooled enough for the investigation the next day, the fire chief found the dog's remains at the front door. it was a flue fire.

i spent most of today sobbing over her big beautiful bernese mountain dog. he was friendly to all who passed on the road & greeted us with a wag of the tail and a lick on the hand. the old man next door sadly recounted the recent events. he had helped the fire chief with a diagram of the home because he had built it while working as a contractor. my neighbor & his wife had been feeding the dog and giving him fresh water for months because it seemed to them the woman was not feeding him.

i am heartbroken by the dark cruelty and disrespect of life everywhere. i don't know what the answer.

There is a definite, proven and undeniable link between the abuse of animals and an escalating abuse of humans. As an animal lover, I'd like to see whoever did this treated the same way the dog was treated.

For those ignorant people who don't care about animals and say "it's just a dog" or "it's just a cat", those people need to realize that ANYONE who does something like this is a threat to our society in general. People who commit crimes like this are a threat to the very people who say "it's just a dog", etc.

People who commit crimes like this need to be removed from society. It's time that our laws catch up with the pyschology.

Earlier this week in the San Antonio Express News, there was a story of a man who butchered a dog with a machete. The guy said that he was disciplining the dog for eating his ear phones. The dog died during surgery performed. There was blood all over the apartment and on the sidewalk leading to the apartment. Gruesome, right?

The guy has been charged with a misdemeanor.
