Union reaches tentative contract at Ford's Brook Park (OH) engine plant that could double jobs

Source: Newsnet5

BROOK PARK, Ohio - UAW Local 1250 President Mike Gammella announced a tentative new local contract with Ford's Brook Park engine plant that could almost double the jobs and keep them safe for years.

The national contract with Ford called for adding a new line of four-cylinder engines to their popular six-cylinder EcoBoost engines made at the Brook Park plant. A new local deal is needed before that can happen.

Gammella said they gave up nothing in this new contract and will ensure work for 20 years in Brook Park.

That would be especially good news for workers at the Walton Hills stamping plant that is scheduled to close at about the same time as the new engine line is set to begin in the summer of 2014. Those workers should be able to transfer to new jobs in Brook Park.
