George Zimmerman Speeding, Pulled Over With Gun In Car

Source: Huffington Post/TMZ

Less than a month after being acquitted of second-degree murder charges related to his killing of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman was reportedly caught speeding Wednesday, with a gun in the glove compartment of his vehicle. The incident took place in the town of Forney, Tex., TMZ reports.

Zimmerman, who informed police that the weapon was in the car shortly after being pulled over, was asked where he was going, to which he responded, "nowhere in particular," according to the site.

because it's odd he said nowhere in particular to the patrolman. very odd. most people out of state would say where they were heading! in state, sure, you could say that you were just driving to relax and not have it seem odd. being 1000+ mi from home and he tells the cop he's carrying, and he doesn't know where he's going? you'd think the patrolman would ask if he's alright!

"Nowhere in particular" is a polite way of saying that he doesn't want to say where he is going. He isn't stupid. He know about dashcams and knew that a video of the stop would soon be all over the internet. He didn't want the rest of the world to know his destination.

If you have a CHL in Texas you allegedly will get lots of passes when pulled over. I think every LEO that pulls you over in Texas asks you the same thing..."Where are you going." In sum, its none of their business and Zimmerman may have been told that is what you say..."no where imparticular." If you are a CHL holder you have to tell the LEO that you are armed.

I probably should have asked if anyone in Southern California ever gets a break for speeding.
I've had a few speeding tickets, and have learned my lesson: it 'aint worth it.

Was driving through some little town before sunlight, around 5 am. Cop pulls me over. I give him my state employee ID instead of my driver's license by mistake. He looks at it, says, "You're a nurse, huh?" I tell him I work at the state psychiatric hospital in Colorado. He responds, "I used to work at one of those, too. Rough job. Slow down, and have a nice day."

I DO. Just as bad as fla. if not worse if that possible?!?! Florida, Alabama, Texas should try it again and secede with as many other drags on amerikkkan culture and civilization as possible. Southern States for Racism and Bigotry, SSRB, beats the hell out of CSA. Don't you think? SSRB? Has a ring to it.

yeah, yeah, yeah. geez. No Ann Arbor isn't. It's an academic paradise for some, for others it's a subtle picture of amerikkkan culture. But then again, Michigan always has been a more subtle form of racist amerikkkan culture that the SSRB have always had out in the open. At least the SSRB is up front, not smiling in your face and muttering racial epithets under their breath as they walk away. Your point is well taken. I'm not just region aware.

i got pulled over was about 4 years ago in downtown Boston. I'm from PA, driving my MB with my two kids and two of their friends. Got nabbed at an actual trap with about 10 motorcycle cops who were pulling over cars left and right.

Think about it, out of state and in a Benz, if that doesn't scream I can pay the ticket then nothing does. But all I got was a written warning. I think it's all in how you act and maybe/possibly the fact that I was wearing a Fire Dept (golf style) shirt and have a CDL. But still, no ticket when clearly I deserved one.

However, there's a great go-to site to look up place-names in Texas, and here's the entry for Forney, formerly named Brooklyn, Texas:

Forney, TX

Forney is on U.S. Highway 80, the Missouri Pacific Railroad, Buffalo Creek, and Mustang Creek, twenty-three miles east of Dallas in northwestern Kaufman County. When the earliest settlers arrived and established a community in this area they found a broad expanse of fertile blackland prairie covered with grass. By 1870 several of these settlers, including John C. McKellar, who established the first general store in the settlement, were calling their town Brooklyn, reportedly because several springs flowed together to form a brook nearby. Soon after McKellar's store was opened, a saloon and a blacksmith shop began operation in Brooklyn.

The citizens applied for a post office in 1873, but it was discovered that there was a Brooklyn in Shelby County. That same year the promoters of the Texas and Pacific Railway, having failed to interest the residents of either the county seat, Kaufman, or Cedar Grove in the rail line, chose to build between these communities and through the Brooklyn settlement. In honor of the railroad and in hopes of winning federal approval for the local post office, the residents of Brooklyn renamed their community Forney, on December 29, 1873, after the Pennsylvania journalist, politician, and member of the board of directors of the T&P line, John Wien Forney, then employed as a civil engineer to direct the Texas and Pacific in the area. Forney was officially incorporated in 1884, and soon afterward a mayor-alderman form of local government was established.

The railroad and fertile soil attracted settlers to Forney after 1873, and the town grew as a farm center and residential community. The population increased slowly for the next century, to more than 3,000 residents by 1960. The surrounding land is used as ranchland and for the production of cotton, corn, grain, and onions. Although situated in a predominantly agricultural area, Forney has been a small manufacturing community since 1936. Its factories have produced such goods as cottonseed oil, ice, athletic supplies, paper products, and plastics. In 1964 Forney Reservoir was constructed on the East Fork of the Trinity River four miles north of Forney. The reservoir, impounded to provide water for Dallas, was later renamed Lake Ray Hubbard.

The population of Forney in 1980 was 2,483. The increase was partly a result of the growth of Dallas. Three local manufacturers produced plastics, recycled-paper products, and insulation products. The Forney Messenger, first published in 1881, continued to serve as the community's weekly newspaper. Forney's first public school was built in 1874. A black school opened in 1890, and Forney Academy, a private coeducational school, was established by 1894. Just north of the town, along Highway 80, are located some fifteen warehouses that sell antiques and antique reproductions. In 1990 the population was 4,070, and in 2000 it was 5,588.
