George Zimmerman won't be charged after alleged domestic incident
Source: CNN
No charges will be filed against George Zimmerman after an alleged altercation with his estranged wife and her father, Lake Mary, Florida, Police Chief Steve Bracknell said Monday.
"Shellie Zimmerman has declined prosecution (after consulting with her attorney)," Bracknell said.
...
After he was initially detained by officers, George Zimmerman was interviewed at the house by detectives, Lake Mary police spokesman Zach Hudson said.
...
George Zimmerman had a bodyguard in the truck with him when police arrived, Bracknell said.

Maybe this is just part of the divorce playing, maybe not. But there is one helluva lotta smoke surrounding this guy post acquittal. People on trial who get acquitted for self defense generally shut the fuck up, chill the fuck out, and step the fuck out of the public spotlight.
Zimmerman is NOT going to have a Happy Ending, and unfortunately he's going to take someone else with him.

(53,778 posts)Chris Hayes had Joy Reid on talking about the latest incident. He play the tape of zimmy's wife's 911 called. She was scared to death and said that the killer threaten her and her father by indicating he had a gun. He grabbed her cell phone from her hand and smashed it as well. She kept telling her father to go back inside before they were shot.
You could hear the fear in her voice. This is the same Jeckel and Hyde character that confronted TM that night. His lawyers were able to hide that side of the killer in court but I think even his supporters are starting to realize this guy is a time bomb, who in fact, has careened from violent incident to incident in his life from his assault of a police officer to the domestic violence incident with an ex-girlfriend to the manhandling of a woman at a party he was working security for, and now this.
The other shoe will drop soon enough.

(16,038 posts)police don't announce no charges until after the decision has been made with prosecution. I've seen conversations between prosecutors and police in the middle of the night to determine if charges would be filed following an arrest..

(8,052 posts)IS a thing of consequence.
As is the unpunished murder of a black teenager.
The one points to and highlights the prevalence of abuse many women are forced to endure, the other highlighted the racism inherent in our criminal justice system.
Not to mention all the issues around "stand your ground" and the regulation (or lack thereof) of firearms in this society.

(7,403 posts)'Oh my God,' that cop is going to let this horse s---t everywhere. So, I was upset about it. So, I stormed across the street and I was like, 'Officer, what are you going to do with all this horse poop?'
Those police officers were not about to bother to clean it up if they are anything like the Omaha police. Besides, this weakens the claim that she "volunteered" to do it. It was more like if I don't do it it won't get taken care of so this horse loving woman put up with the indignity of scooping the cops horse manure.
The first time I posted this link I commented that it was too bad the video didn't start several seconds earlier because important details could be missing. Still, even with this update the cops come off looking like a bunch of jerks because they allowed her to do it rather than cleaning it up themselves. And they did say something like "you missed some" as she was cleaning it up.

(7,403 posts)What they think of their verdict in light of all of the drama surrounding George Zimmerman since his release. Any remorse? Three of them wanted to put him away but not as much as they wanted out of sequestration so they allowed him to walk.
It is a bitch being right on matters like this but given Zimmerman's background you could see this coming from miles away. And again he is not charged. Whatever happened to making terroristic threats that is so popular with law enforcement these days. Judge daddy must really be able to pull strings for George.

O'Mara can talk all day about Zimmerman's "living expenses," but I don't believe for one second he spent all of the money taken in by his "official Website"...even in legal fees. He siphoned off SOME kind of stash and my guess is that his wife wants her cut. She lied about how much money they had while he was awaiting trial, so who the hell would believe either of them now? "Declining prosecution" measn getting her cut and getting rid of him. No one will bother her once she steps out of his orbit.

(563 posts)And that there is a domestic violence investigation taking place, and the cops have the video. If it proves that he did these things the police could then press charges and she would not have to really even lift a finger ( no testifying is one example of that). If she did in fact press charges and they could prove he did those things, she would have to go through a whole ordeal. That's probably why she didn't press charges she waiting for the cops to find enough evidence to do it themselves. But it's hard to tell, every news source seems to be saying different things now. Either way he's an idiot, at least O.J. waited a few years before his next screw up, this guy hasn't lasted 2 damn months!

(27,464 posts)and his wife took him seriously - as would I - even though he wasn't actually pointing it at her. My ex occasionally got rough and it was terrifying, no gun required. In addition, Z allegedly punched his FIL in the face during this incident. That would lend credence to any threats he might make.

freshwest
(53,661 posts)The most dangerous time for a woman is when she makes a stand to divorce an abuser. That is when it hits home and the abuser, fearing loss of control or money, face, whatever, is more likely to kill her.
Some states expect the victim to risk their life by pushing the issue with someone who has proven to be violent, vindictive and out of control. At one time that was a common practice and then laws in some states changed, as such things were seen as an assault on public order and not just the victim.
But now some states have taken the road back to the past due to the defunding of services and lack of respect for women and children, seeing their lives and rights less than that of men and protecting 'the sanctity of marriage and the family' where many were done to death. So much so, that some states have dropped domestic violence laws from the books, and not replaced them, either, with what should be done, more harsh treatment as one would a stranger assault. With lack of legal action, society has deteriorated.
A great step backwards. I've lived in states with both systems of justice, and the one where it's considered a crime against public order also respect the rights of women, children, gays, minorties, workers, etc. The others do not.
I don't feel this outcome says anything about the allegations or what we heard on the 911 call. It's the lack of authority to charge in these cases. They have no children, but are still financially entangled and Z has, if reports are true, income of $30K a month from donations.
If Florida is a community property state, she has a right to assets up to a point, which is a motive for him to intimidate her. The interview she made that was unfavorable to him, may have decreased his income.
He feels he deserves the noney for the fallout from killing Trayvon. Some have fallen into the camp of 'he just needed killing' because he was black and resisted being molested by this creepy guy. I'd never let this character, with that look in his eyes and his demeanour, even before this, get anywhere near me. Add stalking a person down the street, and hell, no.
That anyone finds this thug heroic is frightening. For just a moment, I wondered why the father didn't file charges, but he may also feel in danger. Then again, this may just be two sleasy characters getting more airtime and we may be falling for their latest drama staged for the public. Z's income in donations may go up from this because fringe men's rights groups may feel he is being oppressed.

(18,868 posts)I think we may have laws in place to charge for domestic abuse even if the abusee doesn't want to press charges.
