Republican leader links health reform delay to U.S. debt increase

Source: Reuters

House Republican leaders on Tuesday floated their strategy for thwarting "Obamacare" health reforms in autumn fiscal debates.

They plan to try to link a one-year delay in funding Obamacare with a deal on raising the debt limit, while seeking to deny implementation money for Obamacare in a stop-gap government funding measure.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor told House Republicans in a closed-door meeting that delaying all or part of Obamacare would be a key goal in the debt limit debate, party aides said.

Cantor is planning to hold a House vote later this week on his plan to deny funds to the health care law while extending government spending authority, but Republican conservatives say that the measure will likely prove ineffective.

Out of ~$16 Trillion, Federal Reserve and Gov own about 6T (should include the bonds held for Social Security...), 6T foreign, the rest is privately held. See the word doc here: http://www.fms.treas.gov/bulletin/index.html

You think they are desperate? I think they are arrogant and think they are going to gain seats in the House and win the Senate. Of course they thought the same thing in 2012 so as long as people get out the vote in an off year election (not President), we should be ok. Hopefully Colorado is not an example of what will happen next year and people stay home. I just hope that people take 2014 as serious as 2012.

It never made any sense to me, the same goes for the GOP why does someone always try to stop them from committing suicide, just let them get it over with and commit suicide already, then this country can start moving forward again.

Why even attempt to entertain their nonsense, when they put the gun to their head let them pull the trigger. If you want to intervene, then grab the gun just to make sure it's loaded then hand it back to them

Insanity = doing the same thing and expecting different results. Cantor and the rest of the rocket surgeons in the TeaPublican brain trust still don't understand that Americans know they are the cause of America's eroding credit rating.

What idiots.
