House Republicans Wait at a Table for Dems to Negotiate Budget

Source: ABC News

Eight House Republicans were appointed to negotiate a budget deal with Senate Democrats today and actually sat at a table to await some senators.

When no one showed up, the Republicans said it was an example of the Senate Dems’ refusal to negotiate to reach a deal.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, joining seven other conferees appointed earlier this morning by House Speaker John Boehner, said “there is a way” for Republicans and Democrats “to work through our differences” but complained that Democrats have refused to negotiate.

“As you can see, there’s no one here on the other side of the table,” Cantor, R-Va., said. “It’s fair to say none of us want to be in a shutdown, and we’re here to say to the Senate Democrats, come and talk to us. This is how we resolve our differences and can work our way out of this kind of situation.”

But isolating certain groups, and implying guilt, is rather divisive.
Those two issues deserve serious discussion, delivered in such a way that no groups will feel uncomfortable participating.
This is really about politicians saying "LOOKIE WHAT IM DOIN" "WHATS MY RATING?" in order to distract the public from the fact that they are completely opposed to, and acting contradictorily to the interests of the American electorate.

It is actually, I swear, the lowest a US political party can become.

The photo op with the WWII veterans, the "funding resolution" intended to keep shit going, the blackmailing the US budget, and now this, sitting at a table for a conference that wasn't passed.

Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) called a last-minute Republican plan to conference on a short-term resolution to fund the government ironic given the GOP's steadfast refusal to return "regular order" as requested by Democrats over a dozen times since April.

"We asked to go to conference on the budget 18 times, and Republicans said no," the chairman of the Senate Budget Committee said Monday night, minutes before a government shutdown.

Before House Repubs talk to Senate Dems, they will first talk to Senate repubs. The House repubs do not want to listen but after much pouting and sobering discussion with Senare repubs, they will remove the Obama Care funding. Their ploy now is to find some face saving by eliminating some unpopular part of the social safety need or at least weakening something by cutting funding. I suggest their most viable target is some part of DOD. Probably some oversight function that contractors hate and is duplicative. But repubs wil not threaten the money stream to the large donor base from the military industrial complex

Precisely! Conferencing is how it is done and this time the Rs didn't show up at all.

This is a propaganda tewchnique to instill an image in their base to contravene truth with the exact opposite.
