Mega Millions jackpot rises to $636 million

Source: AZcentral

By Anastasia Reynolds

There appears to be a good chance that someone, somewhere, will win tonight’s drawing of the Mega Millions jackpot, which has already topped $636 million.

Nearly 70 percent of all the possible number combinations have been selected by players, according to Arizona Lottery officials. Only 45 percent were chosen as of Friday.

If nobody wins tonight, the jackpot will roll over for the 22nd time and has the possibility of reaching $950 million. That total would surpass the current record by nearly $300 million.

This week, the jackpot jumped $50 million Tuesday morning, lottery officials said.

Nobody should gamble with money they can't afford to lose, and nobody should delude themselves about their chances or whether winning will change their lives for the better, but otherwise, if you won't miss the dollar...

housing, homeless shelters, mental health, increasing food stamps amounts..etc. a ceiling of 500 million seems enough for one person to win. You can't get people to pay taxes for helping others so this is one tax the players don't complain about. I see some fairly well-off people buying these tickets yet I know a few who wouldn't give a dime to a starving family member.

I also know that my chances of winning are nearly the same whether I had bought those tickets or not.
