GOP Rep.: House Leadership In The Pockets Of Large Donors

Source: TPM

CAITLIN MACNEAL – FEBRUARY 16, 2014, 2:58 PM EST

Rep. Steve King (R-IA), who has been outspoken about his opposition to immigration reform, on Saturday indicated that Republican leaders support immigration reform because large donors like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are pushing them to.

"It seems as though there are some deep pockets outside the Congress and across the country that seem to be the only voices that line up with the Republican leadership in the House on immigration," he said on the Tea Party News Network's "The Capitol Hill Show."

"I'm happy to promote business, but I'm not one of those folks that's going to be directed by billionaires with big checkbooks and I think that's part of the division we have today in the Republican congress."

Republican House leaders unveiled a draft of their principles on immigration reform in January

But not all the other BS they try to do? Well, I must be blind or my hearing completely shot.

I have five kids and two grandkids. Since the redistricting a few years ago, they all live in King's district! I strongly urge, no, make that beg, all of the DU readers to support the Democrat who runs against him in the next election! He has been an embarrassment to the state of Iowa. Thank you all!!!

11. "Tea Party News Network??"

That doesn't sound very grassrootsy! I suppose the "tea party network" has posh headquarters on, what, the 140th through the 157th floors of some unnamed Bros. NY tower, whence Dick Armey dispatches buttboys like Bob Corker to insure that the peasants remain peasants? Or (and this is more likely), the TPN just shares the FOX suites of bunkers wherein Roger Ailes, to keep in tip-top shape, chases women.... And, you know what brothers I mean - the brothers that I dare not speak their name, the ones that their dad made them start out at the bottom for a while, those brothers.
