Beau Biden plans 2016 run for governor in Delaware

Source: Associated Press

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden's eldest son, Beau Biden, says he won't seek re-election as Delaware attorney general this year but plans to run for governor in 2016.

Biden, who underwent surgery at a Texas cancer center last year, announced his intentions in a statement issued Thursday.

The 45-year-old Biden had said previously that he would seek a third term as attorney general.

Biden, who suffered a mild stroke in 2010, was hospitalized last August after becoming weak and disoriented during an Indiana vacation.

Beau Biden defends handling of du Pont heir sex case:

The child sexual abuse case against a du Pont family heir who raped his young daughter was weak, and prosecutors offered an appropriate plea bargain that spared him prison while convicting him of a felony sex crime, Attorney General Beau Biden said Thursday.

"This was not a strong case, and a loss at trial was a distinct possibility," Biden wrote in a letter submitted to The News Journal.

Biden also defended Superior Court Judge Jan Jurden, who noted in her sentencing order that the wealthy father "will not fare well" in prison. Biden said the judge "exercised sound discretion based solely on the merits of the case before her" and doesn't allow a defendant's "wealth or social status" to influence her decisions.

No way that sordid affair gets forgotten. It is about as bad as it can get. The judge has taken some heat, but the prosecution is just a culpable. His office tried to slide it under the radar, and the press was asleep at the wheel. That is why we are finally hearing about it years later. It also appears that Richards violated some of the terms of his probation (by not going to the specified clinic).

Biden want to consider private practice. He is dead for public service.

He'll win easily.

Plus he was the one that cleaned up the Earl Bradley case in which a pediatrician molested over 100 of his young patients.

With Dems outnumbering the republicans 2-1 the only way he would lose is in the primaries.

7. The Earl Bradley case was VERY strong, no doubt.

Much much stronger than the Richards case. Still, because Richards got away with violating probation at times, it's on Biden's hands.

Or am I reading that wrong?
Go get 'em Beau!
Oh wait, maybe the cancer caused the stroke?

9. True. Christie doesn't look too healthy at all. FYI: I wasn't putting down Biden, I was shocked.

That's a lot to go through at such an early age. Hats off to him.

I figured that may have been where Joe was when he didn't seem to be out and about in public much. Thought he might be spending time with the family.

If Beau runs, I'll be there voting for him! On the other hand, maybe Carney would run for Governor. Don't know how that he'd fare, or if he'd be interested at that point. Maybe I'll ask his MIL

But, I'm sure Beau wasn't looking tip top going through that hell. Kudos to him!
