Tea party support hits new lows: Poll

The tea party was an important factor in the 2010 elections, but their support may be waning, according to a new CBS News poll. Today, just 15 percent of Americans say they are supporters of the tea party movement - the lowest since CBS News began asking about the tea party in February 2010. The tea party reached its highest level of support (31 percent) in November 2010, soon after the midterm elections.

The movement may be losing some of its core constituency -- Republicans. 32 percent of self-identified Republicans now consider themselves supporters of the tea party - down 10 points from February and a decline of 23 points from July 2010, the summer before the Republican Party took control of the House of Representatives. The percentage of Republicans who identify as tea party supporters is now among the lowest in CBS News Polls.

More than five months ahead of the midterm elections, there is a sense of disillusionment among the American public. Forty-five percent of Americans -- a record high in CBS News polls -- now say they agree with the statement "It makes no real difference which party controls Congress, things go on just as they did before." Still, a slim majority (53 percent) thinks it matters which party controls Congress.

In a way it is a shame because we would have kept the Senate with Tea Partiers. Now that most of the incumbents won, it will be harder for us. I don't know if this is a celebration for us.

that Tea Party-backed candidates in various primaries yesterday pretty much got their asses handed to them, most notably in Kentucky, where Mitch McConnell handily won against his TP-backed primary opponent, Matt Bevins.

With any luck (keeping my fingers crossed) it's starting to look like the TP is running out of steam. Their extremism has done nothing but alienate pretty much every other voting bloc out there except for revanchists, neo-Confederates, white nationalists, Christian Reconstructionists and the generally malcontent.

colorful costumes an embarrassment. The billionaire libertarians have switched to gathering,
the youth vote, at the same time some of the voter disenfranchisement laws are deny college

They won with that Tea Party and now, even though all those Tea voters and Tea candidates are all Republican, the Republicans can pretend they are somehow not part of the same pie.

And this faction is influencing a strong move further right. They also pretend it is not Republican.

13. There is NO distinction between the Tea Party & the Republican Party

The Tea Party is merely the legacy of the Republicans' Southern Strategy organized to oppose the First Black President.
It's the rank-and-file bigots who the greedy rich use to legally absolve themselves from as much responsibilities to the nation as they can.

A new name gets slapped upon this body of people every few years.
They once called themselves Dixiecrats.
Some call themselves Libertarian.
Another name is the John Birch Society founded by Southerner Robert W. Welch Jr. from North Carolina.
Some organized themselves under the banner of Ku Klux Klan.

Different names, same theme.

All these Sons of the Confederacy have the same ultimate goal regardless of the different strategies they use.
They want White Dominion over everybody else & want the country to return to that standard legally as well as defacto.

The Tea Party is the latest brand of this company.
When that brand loses its flavor you'll see another brand promoted.

The Republican Party married these guys for good in the 1960s.
It's so ironic since it was the Republican Abraham Lincoln that fought that very confederacy 150 years ago.
Politics indeed make strange bedfellows.

When the Democratic Party pulled a Majin Vegeta & had a final atonement for its past evils, it drove out many of those Confederate nostalgics.
The Democratic Party used to be one & the same with the Southern Confederacy but Frank Roosevelt & John Kennedy changed all that.
The Republican Party desperate for voting numbers & the power that brings laid down with these dogs.
Now they wake up with fleas.
And no flea collar or flea bath can ever cleanse the Republican body of these parasites.
They own them now.

Ironically the Republican Party has become the party of the Confederates & they control the various brands that come out of them.
The Tea Party IS the Republican Party.
There is NO distinction.
