Hundreds of migrants rush Spain's border.

Source: Associated Press

MELILLA, Spain (AP) — A thousand African migrants charged a barbed-wire border fence in Spain's North African enclave of Melilla on Wednesday with many managing to get across, officials said, but dozens of others were beaten back by Moroccan and Spanish police.

During the pre-dawn border storming, cries of pain and noises of people being hit could be heard as police from both sides tried to prevent dozens of the sub-Saharan migrants from entering the city from Morocco.

A spokesman for the Interior Ministry said it had no indication that excessive force was used.

Spain's North African city enclaves of Melilla and Ceuta are regularly targeted by large groups of African immigrants living illegally in Morocco who try desperately to cross into Europe in the hope of finding a better life.

They are not asking for another yacht, limo or another mansion to add to the collection they want to have a place to live with fear, a job they can live on, education for their kids and a little happiness in the life. Meanwhile we have just a handful or movers and shakers that are doing their very best to prevent that from happening. They seem to want people to suffer, do without, live in fear, with that "go back where you came from" attitude. But for many just where is that? Many have been pushed around, evicted or chased from one place to another they don't even know where home is. Passports have limits, cost money and leaves many far behind however if you have the money you go "legal style" or you can bribe the gate keepers and get in(barely). But so few have the money and even those born in any country does not guarantee to a safe and secure future. Again only those with enough cash or connections can easily get past the gate and point fingers at those who cannot. There is so little fair about this system and it will only get worse as more money ends up in the hands of a few, jobs and living space becomes more scarce and the world population grows.

When that reduces to 5% or so perhaps they'll be ok with migrants from north Africa. Meanwhile - so much for jobs.

Most related issues in Spain stem from the 2007 financial collapse as a result of the antics of US financial institutions. Maybe the US should issue visas to all of such migrants.

down the artificial borders man has created. The rich may find that the only border that works is one that shows they are sharing their wealth with the rest of the world. As Alan Grayson says the rich have their own idea of healthcare "Let them die." Well that is also their idea for combating poverty. They will find out that borders do not work and will not help to enforce their policy.

We are in the boat together and either we help each other or the boat sinks.
