John Kerry Arrives in Egypt on Unannounced Visit

Source: wall street journal

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Egypt on an unannounced visit Sunday, and is scheduled to be the highest-ranking American official to meet with President Abdel Fattah al Sisi.

U.S. officials said the diplomat will discuss security issues with Mr. Sisi, efforts to revive Egypt's moribund economy, and the state of Cairo's political reforms.

The Obama administration has voiced concerns about the Egyptian government's arrests of opposition political figures and journalists, and its continued crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood Islamist movement.

"The secretary will discuss a variety of issues covering our bilateral relationship as well as regional issues, including Iraq, Syria, Libya, Israeli-Palestinian relations, and the extremist and terror threats we all face," State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said.

With all that is going on over there, we don't need any sketchiness in Israel or Egypt.

Meet the new boss, chosen -- ironically enough -- by the guy they elected after Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, who thought that meant he was king, and that they then tossed out...!
