Hillary Clinton meets the trolls in Facebook forum

Source: San Francisco Chronicle

(07-21) 19:17 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- The difference between online public forums and in-person public forums made itself jaw-droppingly clear Monday when Hillary Rodham Clinton threw herself out to the wide world on Facebook for a question-and-answer session.

The former first lady and secretary of state, usually surrounded by handlers at live events keeping anyone who might take her off message well away from the proceedings, found herself peppered in the Internet universe with questions about her breast size, sex habits and whether she'd rather fight a horse or a duck.

Amid the bilge were plenty of serious, sometimes erudite queries on Israel, the Citizens United ruling and abortion rights - many of which the possible 2016 presidential candidate answered carefully and without making news.

On Guantanamo Bay, the U.S. prison for suspected Islamic militants? "I supported closing it," Clinton wrote. On abortion? "We need to continue the fight to give women the right to choose," she wrote.

Whenever anyone does an AMA on Reddit, this question almost always gets asked. Running joke.

She only answers a couple of dozen questions, lots of good ones went unanswered. Didn't bother to scroll further once I saw the sniper trolling.

And I'm a Democrat. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more Dems with Clinton fatigue than Repubs. They get excited to bash her...I just get sick of her and her obvious insincerity.

If Clinton runs on an inequality platform, I will be able to swallow the religious freedom crap (she also mentions that in the Q&A).

It doesn't make one a fraud by believing what another opposes, nor does it make them a liar.

She's not my first choice, but I sure as hell know what choice I won't make. Vote for another party or not vote, which is a vote for a Republiclown.

Obama won't be leaving a war for his successor, even if they want one. Even McCain is changing his tune as he can tell which way the wind is blowing.

No more Pax Americana.

I don't think so. And Obamas foreign policy is similar to Bush's. And his domestic drug war and surveillance is equal and actually worse. So tired of being threatened with a Bush if I don't support his ally on the left. The Clintons are close personal friends of the Bushes. Bill has been referred to ad Bush Sr's fifth son once the 2000 election facade was over. Where have you been?

She'll pick a couple of social issues to separate herself from the Republican candidates and voters from the democratic wing of the party will be expected to faithfully fall in line like they always do.

If she wins we'll see the same Wall Street/corporate cronies installed in top positions in her administration as we've seen with the last two third way Democratic Party presidents . If you're not getting tired of this crap you're either not paying attention or a moderate republican masquerading as a democrat, probably because moderates are no longer accepted in the republican party.

and I'm starting to step back on my support of Hillary and asking myself why am I so anxious for her to run. This is me and only me. First I want a Dem to be President and I believe she has the widest general appeal. Second, I would like to see a women elected President it would be a fitting jewel in the Democratic crown next to the Obama jewel. Third, there is that residual Clinton mystic - I wished Bill could run again.
However, I am beginning to have my doubts. She is not the avid progressive I would like to support. I believe we need a sharper more defined separation as Democrats from Republicans. We need someone that can articulate that division more so than I have seen and heard from her. She also seems to have ties to Wall Street and big industry that concerns me. In addition, she knows all too well the political landscape of survival and I am concerned that that alone will sway any choices and decisions she may have to make.
