Netanyahu Meets With House Armed Services Members

Source: JTA

August 28, 2014 4:13pm

WASHINGTON (JTA) — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu likened Hamas to radical Islamists in Iraq and Syria in a meeting with members of the U.S. House of Representatives Armed Services Committee.

“We’re faced with common enemies, radical Islamic terrorists who have absolutely no inhibitions on executing people, terrorizing people, targeting innocent civilians,” Netanyahu said, meeting Thursday with a bipartisan delegation led by chairman Rep. Buck McKeon (R-Calif.). “These are common enemies of Israel, the United States and all the civilized countries. And I think we should take a common stand to defeat them.”

McKeon in his response pledged continuing support for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system, credited with deflecting over 80 percent of targeted missiles in the recent war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

“On the House Armed Services Committee, we’re happy with the work we’ve been able to do, working with you on [Iron] Dome and how you’ve used it to protect human life,” he said. “And we will keep that bond and that friendship and that special relationship that we have forever.”

last gasp justification for killing 500 children. And for what? Concessions?

There is no military solution, only a political one, how is that not understood, even for a lover of Wile E. Coyote?

And the Iron Dome claim is just more BS.

And... you think Netanyahu wants "solutions?" You think the US, or the people of Israel want "solutions?" The powerful never want solutions. The powerful always want to maintain the status quo.

Some facts:

1. The Palestinians can have their state, provided they swear off genocide of Jews. Hamas and the PA have both refused. The first tenant of their respective constitutions is the extermination of all Jews. (On that, the reason there is a need for two states is the Arabs refused to live in a state where Jews had equal rights. Not permitted under Sharia.)

2. Hamas intentionally targets Israeli civilians: Jew, Arab, Druze, it doesn't matter. (Note I said "Arab." Yes, 1/5 Israelis is Arab with all the same rights as Jewish Israelis. In fact Israel is the only middle east country where Arabs can convert to Judaism, Christianity, Muslim, or nothing. Arabs in Israel have the highest standard of living for common --- non royal -- Arabs in the entire ME.)

3. Hamas intentionally puts civilians in harms way. If you are complaining about civilian deaths, then blame Hamas. Israel is conducting the most reserved, targeted, bombing in the history of the world. Does Hamas still get people killed? Yes.

4. People in Gaza are not starving. In fact, Gazans have a higher rate of obesity than US citizens. They are poor because of bad choices.

5. Gaza should not be poor. They've received, per capita, more financial aid than any people, anywhere, in the history of the world. They are sitting on the best beach in the Med, right between the two biggest tourist spots in the ME (pyramids and Jerusalem). They just choose to build bombs.

6. Egypt has a militarized border with Gaza that makes Israel's border with Gaza look like Canada/USA. Egypt also supports Israel's actions because Hamas are radical Muslim loonies just like the Muslim Brotherhood.

You can be gay in Israel. In Gaza, you'd get the death penalty.

You can be straight in Israel. In Gaza, this works if you are rich enough to buy a wife (or 3 or 5).

You can piss on the Koran, the Bible, and burn a Torah. Or you can revere them. Try having a Torah in Gaza. Or burn a Koran.

There are free and fair election in Israel. In Gaza, you vote, but it's more akin to Soviet elections.

Schools are free. College is generally free. In Gaza, they store bombs in schools for human shield purposes.

Women have equal rights in Israel. In Gaza, they are chattel slaves.

There is a public safety net in Israel

Free speech is revered. In Gaza, there are secret police and executions in alleys.

+++++++

So yes, Israel IS civilized. Is Israel perfect? No. Nothing on this Earth is perfect.
