Nigeria's Boko Haram 'seize' Bama town in Borno

Source: BBC

Nigeria's militant Islamist group Boko Haram has seized the key north-eastern town of Bama after fierce fighting with government forces, residents say.

Thousands of civilians have fled the town, along with soldiers, they added.

The military has not yet officially commented on the claim that it has lost control of Bama, the second biggest town in Borno state.

Last month, Boko Haram said it had established an Islamic state in areas it controls in north-eastern Nigeria.

Islamist insurgents seize swaths of north-eastern town of Bama, killing scores and displacing thousands in overnight raid

Boko Haram insurgents have overrun swaths of a north-eastern Nigerian town after hours of fighting killed scores of residents and displaced thousands, according to security sources.

The Islamists launched an attack on Bama, 45 miles (70km) from the Borno state capital of Maiduguri, on Monday. They were initially repelled but returned in greater numbers overnight, the sources and witnesses said.

Witnesses said there were heavy casualties on both sides. One security source said up to 5,000 people had fled the town.

In a bungled air strike, several Nigerian troops were killed at the Bama armoury by a fighter jet targeting the insurgents, according to a soldier on the ground.

Nigeria's militant Islamist group Boko Haram has captured the town of Banki, which borders Cameroon, after government troops fled, residents say.

The military has not yet commented on the latest town to reportedly fall to the insurgents in recent weeks.

Fears have been raised that their main target is Maiduguri, the capital of north-eastern Borno state.

Boko Haram's "lightning territorial gains" could lead to Nigeria breaking up like Iraq, a think-thank has warned.

Whether Boko Haram, ISIL, Al Qeada...
So Boko Haram 'seizes' the town....about a quarter of a million people. What next? Enslave 1/4 million people? Who opens the markets? Who 'runs' shit? Do they just sit around polishing their dicks? Is there any kind of 'public transportation"? Who drives the buses?
They 'seized it'. Now they own it.
Good fucking luck!
Idiots.

They rule it.
You pay "taxes" to them.
You obey their "laws".
You submit to their "justice" system.

It is all about being in power and exercising control over others.

How badly do you want to be king of your fiefdom?

Brute force and fear will carry the day for a long time over an unarmed population.

I used to think that one day there would be peace in the world. Now I'm not sure there will ever be peace for the human species. I think it's part of our nature, a part that most try hard to self-regulate, with mixed results.
