Arizona GOP official resigns after saying poor women should be sterilized

Source: Raw Story

A top GOP official in Arizona resigned from his statewide position after calling for the forced sterilization of women on welfare.

Russell Pearce, the first vice-chair of the state’s Republican Party and recalled Arizona senate president, made the comments Sept. 6 on his weekly, self-titled talk radio program, reported the Phoenix New Times.

“You put me in charge of Medicaid, the first thing I’d do is get Norplant, birth-control implants, or tubal ligations,” Pearce said on his KKNT-AM program. “Then we’ll test recipients for drugs and alcohol, and if you want to [reproduce] or use drugs or alcohol, then get a job.”

In addition to forced sterilization, Pearce suggested recipients of public assistance be tested for drugs and alcohol, have their homes subjected to random searches, and severely cutting the amount of food aid and dictating what items recipients could buy.

They really moved along on the 30s. The 40s brought about their deserved destruction.

Dehumanize people based upon lifestyle, religion, gender, income, reliance on outside support (welfare, food stamps, etc.), union membership, etc. and you make them non-human. You make them things. It is easy (far less complicated) to eradicate a thing.

You pit one side/group against the other, then repeat with ever-shrinking groups. The end result is just 1 small group to deal with when the time comes.

Much of what you see now in our country is that same results-driven philosophy that has been in motion for a while. They (ultra-rich conservatives and their minions) are just more emboldened in their willingness to spout it due to general acceptance by the population and media.

The first requirement of all laws should be that those writing them have to be the first ones to submit to them. For example, all politicians should be drug tested on a regular basis and the results made public so voters can be informed. All republicans should have trans-vaginal scans even if they don't have a vagina.

WHY THE HELL shouldn't we test them for controlled substances and other humiliating "checks" as a qualifier for eligibility??? You KNOW some of them would FAIL.

amounts of money, yet do their best to prevent raising the minimum wage for the poor,
that has driven more people into poverty, and causing the already poor to become still
poorer, and some of them have died of hunger and malnutrition.

These sociopathic corporation executives are the cause. Catch them red-handed at their
filthy tricks, send them to court. These filthy swine are the real cause of the downward
turn of our nation. But sociopaths not only don't give a damn about their fellow mankind.
They actually enjoy making and seeing others in misery and causing their deaths.

Everytime I go on the bus towards downtown Lynchburg and back home, I go by a familiar institution with a dark past.

Nowadays it's a training center for the intellectually and developmentally disabled though it's slated to close by 2020. In the past, it would sterilize the 'Epileptics' and the 'feebleminded'. It was where the Bucks were sterilized. It was founded by eugenicists. (of course! )

Let's start with him, and his family. After all, he receives his income from the government. Haul his wife in and force him to watch as they setup to sterilize her. His mother, grandmother, any close family getting any kind of government assistance.. Haul them in as well. Drug test him and his family, and not at any upscale hospital of his chosing, but at a free clinic in downtown Phoenix, and they can enjoy the same lines that his consituants enjoy.

I wouldn't take it as far as ACTUALLY steralizing his family, but bring it right to the edge, and scare the crap out of him into having SOME fucking sense.

If it's good enough for the citizens he's SUPPOSED to represent, then hell, it's good enough for him and his family.

After both Democrats and Republicans urged him to step down from his elected but unpaid statewide position, he submitted his resignation Sunday — essentially claiming he had plagiarized the offensive remarks.

“Recently on my radio show there was a discussion about the abuses to our welfare system,” Pearce said in a statement. “I shared comments written by someone else and failed to attribute them to the author. This was a mistake. This mistake has been taken by the media and the left and used to hurt our Republican candidates.”
