Ferguson officer appears before grand jury on shooting of Michael Brown

Source: STL Post-Dispatch

CLAYTON • Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson testified here for almost four hours Tuesday in front of the St. Louis County grand jury investigating his shooting Aug. 9 of Michael Brown, a source with knowledge of the investigation said Wednesday.

Wilson was not obligated to appear, and also has spoken with St. Louis County investigators twice and federal investigators once, the source said. The source said Wilson was “cooperative.”

A spokesman for Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch’s office, Ed Magee, refused to comment Wednesday on who had testified.

The shooting of Brown, 18, who was black and unarmed, by Wilson, who is white, gave rise to racially charged protests and looting. Some activists have threatened more of the same if the grand jury does not indict Wilson.

My guess is that Ferguson will end up under DOJ control before this is all over when they find a sufficient amount of abuse that can't be denied.

Not only Holder but White House aids have been there, along with dozens of FBI agents getting the goods on that crooked outfit there.

Definite coverup from the city and PD there. But the FBI is going into everything, I suppose. All the cases, like the guy who was beaten and charged with getting blood on the officer's uniforms who beat him.

And many other cases will come to the light. It will establish a pattern of practice that should enable the DOJ to take over and keep them under their thumb.

Of course this process all depends on November. If the GOP gets the Senate, they will defund the FBI along with every other agency as planned. They have decimated them through the sequester and every other cut they can finagle.

And the state government is controlled by the GOP, despite the Governor being a Democrat. If any are up for election, they need to booted right away. Ferguson fixed the local elections to April, not November, no doubt to discourage the voters. But they can vote some of that GOP out of the state house soon.

The Grand Jury also decides who is prosecuted. As a direct result of this shooting others died in the Protest. The dull Police Chief of Ferguson did briefly discuss Wilson as well as speculated why he shot Michael Brown which given the secrecy seems odd. I just do not understand why a defense attorney would want a client to speak to the Grand Jury. This may turn out very different than people expect.

the defense attorney is watching what the prosecutor is doing (not being an advocate for the State/Victim) and gambling that the GJ pool reflects the (racial) sentiment of the county ... that MB was a thug, the cop was justified, and that Ferguson has NO racial issues.

I have never (that I can think of) where a prosecutor (on similar facts) went to a GJ, without having charged the defendant ... it gives the lay body guidance as to the State's case ... without it, the GJ (again, of lay people) could return an indictment on an impossible/inappropriate bill, e.g., 1st degree murder.

The prosecutor, in this case, is either chickenshit; or, has placing the fix.

So he is going to dump that for an obviously racist Police Department and an obviously panicked out of control cop (whose entire career has been in racist Police Departments). I would hope voter apathy is at risk in St. Louis County.

from the OP link...

“You don’t always want to preview what your defense would be at such an early stage,” Rogers [a defense attorney not connected with the case] explained. He added, “I would only consider allowing my client to testify at a grand jury proceeding if I was convinced that the prosecutor presenting the evidence to the (grand jury) was convinced that his testimony would help them reach the decision not to indict.

Defense attorney is convinced that the prosecutor is after a decision to not indict his client.

It's basically a form of advertising. Seems to be getting more popular with news sites. Answer a couple of survey questions and then the text appears.

Doubtless your answer as to whether you have taken Paxil in the last year is getting recorded somewhere....

Did you experience any of the following side effects? Check all that apply.

Irritability
Nausea
Incontinence
Waking up in random places not knowing how you got there
Selling all your worldly possessions in preparation for the end
A sudden desire to be nude in public places

I swear the laundry lists of side effects from some of the medications they advertise sound worse than what they are trying to "cure".

18. Panexa. Ask your doctor for a reason to take it.

Sep 2014

Even though whoever put this up years ago has since taken it down, it still cracks me up every time.

https://web.archive.org/web/20051126231034/http://www.panexa.com/

PANEXA is a prescription drug that should only be taken by patients experiencing one of the following disorders: metabolism, binocular vision, digestion (solid and liquid), circulation, menstruation, cognition, osculation, extremes of emotion. For patients with coronary heart condition (CHC) or two separate feet (2SF), the dosage of PANEXA should be doubled to ensure that twice the number of pills are being consumed. PANEXA can also be utilized to decrease the risk of death caused by not taking PANEXA, being beaten to death by oscelots, or death relating from complications arising from seeing too much of the color lavender. Epileptic patients should take care to ensure tight, careful grips on containers of PANEXA, in order to secure their contents in the event of a seizure, caused by PANEXA or otherwise.

WHEN PANEXA SHOULD NOT BE USED

There are no known medical circumstances (based on extensive internal testing) in which PANEXA cannot be used. However, PANEXA is not quite as aggressively recommended in the following circumstances:

PANEXA should not be used as a physical aid to set a broken bone, as in the case of a splint;
PANEXA should not be used as a substitute for real human relationships; the tablets (and gel-coated caplets) are incapable of displaying any real emotion, and would prove to be dissatisfying friends or mates;
PANEXA should not be used to soak up spills or remove stains. This is disrespectful to PANEXA;
PANEXA should not be resold with the intent of generating a personal profit;
PANEXA should not be used a form of motive transport, as it lacks the government regulated (US DOT 1445/88-4557) safety lights and reflectors;
Women with uteruses should consider avoiding PANEXA or moving to a state or province where the concentration of PANEXA is lesser;
Do not taunt PANEXA.

WARNINGS

Muscle: In a small number of tested cases (84%) PANEXAwas found to cause abdominal wall muscle breakdown coupled with spasmodic activity in lower back/spinal muscles, resulting in most patients violently bending forward like a book slamming shut. While some other drugs promote similar responses (gemifbrozil, fresh cherries, nicitonic acid, cyclosporine, mustard gas, and acetomenaphin) PANEXA's reactions are over 48X as powerful and take place with a great deal more panache and flash. Also, PANEXA can contribute to developing inhumanly powerful tongue muscles, capable of licking through steel. Lymphatic System: If, after taking PANEXA for a period of four to six weeks, you still have any functioning lymph nodes remaining, double the dosage every two (3) weeks until they are all gone.

Poor black people are not about to start shooting cops. They're more likely to riot and trash their own neighborhoods because they know what happens if they turn their aggression outwards. But I agree with you that if Wilson isn't prosecuted bad things will happen.
