Armed Neo-Nazis Now Patrolling Sanford, Say They Are "Prepared" For Post-Trayvon Martin Violence
By Michael Miller Fri., Apr. 6 2012 at 7:00 AM
Members of the National Socialist Movement during a patrol on the US-Mexico border in January
Neo-Nazis are currently conducting heavily armed patrols in and around Sanford, Florida and are "prepared" for violence in the case of a race riot. The patrols are to protect "white citizens in the area who are concerned for their safety" in the wake of the Trayvon Martin shooting last month, says Commander Jeff Schoep of the National Socialist Movement. "We are not advocating any type of violence or attacks on anybody, but we are prepared for it," he says. "We are not the type of white people who are going to be walked all over."
Because nothing diffuses racial tension like gun-toting racial separatists patrolling an already on-edge community.
Schoep, whose neo-Nazi group is based in Detroit, tells Riptide the patrols are a response to white residents' fears of a race riot.

But when they say Detroit, they don't really mean Detroit. It's like M&M who likes to make people think he's a Detroiter when he probably never lived south of Eight Mile Road that he made famous.
I was born as raised in Detroit. These guys ain't from Detroit. Probably from Bloomfield Township, Inkster, or some other suburb. Not Detroit.

(10,857 posts)While I can't find a quote from the guy himself, other official Nazi sources, apparently including a Hitler Youth yearbook from 1939, describe the Japanese as "Asian Aryans." The Germans were willing to entrust the Japanese with their finest technology, including jets and atomic research, and continued to offer technological support to the Japanese long after it was nearly impossible for the two nations to maintain contact.
For more pragmatic reasons, particularly supplies of tungsten which the Germans desperately needed, the Germans also supported the Chinese while China and Japan were fighting. Some 300,000 German M35 "Fritz" helmets made it to the Chinese, who used them for the duration of their war against Japan and later the Communists.

Of course, supporting someone he probably planned to exterminate later was nothing new to Hitler, so we would be unwise to conflate Hitler's support with Hitler's approval.

Florida banned open carry in 1893 (selectively enforced until the past 30 years) including vehicles. They can't carry concealed without permit, which I doubt they have. How many neo-Nazis have clean records? I bet more than a few of them could be looking at federal time for possessing a firearm (felons, domestic abusers). Not that they are not a threat, but bullies like these guys have more in common with Walter Mitty than Charles Bronson's "Death Wish" character.

(228 posts)... The Nazis, we might recall, were able to gain power by infiltrating existing right wing political parties, and ultimately concentrating power in the intentionally misleadingly named "National Socialism", meant to appeal to workers, to keep them away from commies and socialist democrats. Here's Wikipedia's take:
The ideology was developed first by Anton Drexler and then Adolf Hitler as a means to draw workers away from communism and into völkisch nationalism.[7] Initially Nazi political strategy focused on anti-big business, anti-bourgeois, and anti-capitalist rhetoric, though such aspects were later downplayed in the 1930s to gain the support from industrial owners for the Nazis; focus was shifted to anti-Semitic and anti-Marxist themes.[8] Nazism promoted political violence, militarism, and war, it conceived of politics as being a "battle", and the Nazis utilized their paramilitary organization, the Sturmabteilung (SA) for violent attacks upon those they opposed, particularly communists, Jews, and social democrats.[9]

(23,720 posts)a quick google search reveals his home address. Seems he lives in Eastpoint Mich.
Eastpointe (formerly East Detroit) is a city in Macomb County of the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 32,442. Eastpointe forms a part of the Metro Detroit area. It borders on 8 Mile Road on the northern edge of Detroit.
History
The community was first settled by Irish and German immigrants in the 1830s. In October 1897, a Post Office was established there with the name of "Half-way", as it was near the halfway point of the stage run between downtown Detroit and the Macomb County seat at Mount Clemens. It incorporated as the village of Halfway in December 1924 and reincorporated as the City of East Detroit in January 1929. Prior to 1924, most of the community formed a part of Erin Township. The city changed its name to "Eastpointe" after the change was approved by residents in a 1992 referendum; the name change had been proposed to remove any perceived association with the adjacent city of Detroit; the "-pointe" is intended to associate the city instead with the nearby affluent communities of the Grosse Pointes.
The city's school district was unaffected by the municipal name change, and still is called East Detroit Public Schools. It has one high school (East Detroit High School), one middle school (Kelly Middle School), and six elementary schools. East Detroit Public Schools serves Macomb County residents, whose primary district boundaries encompass the City of Eastpointe and the southeastern portion of the City of Warren.

bunch of rednecked trailer trash
antigone382
(3,682 posts)I'm really not trying to be nitpicky...but the fact is, I live in the Appalachian South. My family lives in a trailer, and I am friends with lots of other people who live in trailers, who have the kinds of accents, education levels, and incomes that get people labeled "redneck," "trailer trash," and other pejorative terms used mostly against the Southern poor. But they are people that I love. They are very good, but very poor people, and it hurts enough when I hear those words, used here or elsewhere, to define them as less valuable human beings. When I see the same words used to describe neo-Nazis, it is even worse. Not only are my friends and family described as worthless trash; they are just the same as the most violent and hateful elements in society.
The word "redneck" has an ugly, classist history. Please consider the people who can be hurt by these kinds of pejorative terms.
notadmblnd
(23,720 posts)but if you identify your friends and family with what I said, then who is the one who really has a problem? I too have family that live in manufactured home communities and there is a difference between them and the racist trash that lives in Eastpoint Mich.
I am sorry that you took offense.
antigone382
(3,682 posts)There's no reason to invoke harmful slurs that have been historically applied to people who have nothing to do with the situation. The fact is, "redneck," "trailer trash," and "white trash" each have pejorative, interrelated histories, attached mostly to the Southern poor, with roots in classist, anti-labor, and anti-populist movements, as well as eugenics ideology. Here are some links that detail the history of these ideologies, and why those words, the stereotypes they invoke, and the status of inferiority and "otherness" which they confer on a specific class of people, are so damaging.
"Poor White Trash: The Legacy of Carrie Buck and Eugenical
Sterilization in the United States" http://toto.lib.unca.edu/sr_papers/history_sr/srhistory_2004/whisnant_heather.pdf
"Race, Racism, and Human Genetics: Poor White Trash" http://raceandgenetics.blogspot.com/2010/10/poor-white-trash.html
"Redneck: a Short Note from American Labor History" http://www.jstor.org/stable/455956
http://www.redneckparty.org/ (this is a political group attempting to reclaim the connection between the term "redneck" and its pro-labor origins as connected to miners' strikes. However, their attempt to redeem this term does not justify its continued use as a pejorative.)
When I say my family lives in a trailer, it means that *I* have spent many years of my life in a trailer. You may distinguish between "trailer trash" and people who merely live in trailers, but that distinction rings a little hollow in my ears. There's really no way around it; defining people as inferior based on their residence categorizes people who live in trailers as inferior, even if you do the kindness of saying that some who live in trailers are not "trailer trash."
These racist assholes are an ugly group of people with ugly beliefs. How they may or may not be housed has nothing whatsoever to do with that.

(3,682 posts)People don't understand the history or the harm of these classist stereotypes. It stigmatizes an already marginalized group--the people who live in substandard housing; who don't have access to good education, healthcare, or jobs; who live in environmentally degraded areas like the coal fields, and who in every way represent a particularly needy and exploited group.
People like to smirk and sneer about all those inbred, toothless hicks living in shacks without indoor plumbing, their pregnant daughters getting married at seventeen, relying on duct tape and WD40 to hold together barely functioning appliances, selling pills or meth or moonshine (depending on the era) to make ends meet...ignoring that the very behaviors and situations they find so amusing/disgusting are *common expressions* of poverty, lack of opportunity, and hopelessness. They don't know about the history of struggle and exploitation. They just play on an acceptable stereotype and ignore its implications.
I think John Sheldon Reed said it best: "just as rednecks seem to be the last remaining identifiable ethnic villains, so hillbillies appear to be the last acceptable ethnic fools." We're just funny, subhuman caricatures, not worthy of respect or human empathy. I've seen too many friends shoved through the criminal justice system, murdered, driven to suicide or drug overdoses, dragged to the ground in more ways than you can imagine, to casually tolerate a mindset that they are worthless or deserving of contempt because of assumptions about them based on their accent, clothing, or place of birth.

(9,115 posts)They have been denounced by surviving leadership of the real Black Panthers, as Jesse Jackson pointed out recently. The new BPs are an offshoot of Farrakhan's Nation of Islam, which has formed alliances with skin heads, klansmen, and American nazis. (They agree on opposition to 'race mixing', and share hatred for Jews). Farrakhan's NOI also attacked original Black Panthers.
They also are trying to stir up racial trouble around the issue of Trayvon's murder, like their white nazi buddies. And race trouble and riots are what the repugs want for this election, just like when that fat pig Limbaugh said he was dreaming of riots for the Dem Convention in '08. (2,284 posts)Click on the Miami New Times and read the mostly racist comments posted. If this is the type of people that live in Florida it would be wise to stay out of that state.

(19 posts)Excuse me for being a psychological quack, but I guess every high school dropout needs some kind of identity to derive security from. These angsty fucks are making fools of themselves, being racist entirely for shock value, probably using the justification of "Political Correctness" they acquired from watching too much South Park. Honestly, I hate that show now...
If I believed in God, I'd pray for the Sanford residents' safety right now.

(42,239 posts)Say what you like about neo-Nazis, they certainly know how to exact a shine from black leather footwear. Antony Antonios lace-up army boots were glinting menacingly in the streetlights as he strode through Sanford late on Tuesday.
The heavily tattooed 33-year-old skinhead had driven two hours from Hernando County, on Florida's western coast, to reach this suddenly newsworthy city north of Orlando. He intended to spend his night "on patrol" with fellow volunteers from the National Socialist Movement (NSM), the nation's largest white-supremacist group.
"We're here because we got some calls from concerned citizens of Sanford's white community," he said. "We're going to be doing patrols, driving and walking around, to make sure there's nothing violent going on, or anything getting out of hand. It's been on the news about a race war going on, and people are worried. So we want to be sure that white residents of the area feel safe."
The "race war" Mr Antonio was talking about involves the public's reaction to the death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager who was shot and killed as he walked through one of Sanford's many gated communities on the evening of 26 February.
