Jerry Springer hits the road for Ohio candidate

Source: AP

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An election fight is nothing compared with what Jerry Springer sees in his day job.

The former Cincinnati mayor now makes his money as the ringmaster of a pugilistic talk show circus, but he says it's the exchange of political ideas that excites him most.

Springer — who was once named "Democrat of the Year" in Ohio — remains politically active in the swing state where he previously aspired to be governor.

In recent years Springer has headlined a county Democratic Party's annual dinner and appeared at a fish fry on behalf of a local candidate. On Thursday, he is slated to appear at an early vote event in Warren for state Sen. Nina Turner, the Democratic candidate for Ohio's secretary of state.

Springer is obviously a solid Dem, but could be a "mixed blessing" with some.

Then again, I cannot imagine changing my vote based on who does or does not campaign for someone?

"Well, I was going to vote for the candidate who I thought likeliest not to screw America, but seeing Brittany Spears campaigning for the other candidate sure changed my mind!"

I remember him being interviewed on "Crossfire" years ago. He sounded like a really bright guy who shared my values.

It's too bad his career/show make him a joke as a candidate for office as a Democrat. Somehow I think it'd be a plus for him if he were a republican. It's weird how it works. Look at Chuck Norris. He's a D-grade actor who's done terrible movies and hasn't been relevant in years (if ever). Somehow he's cool to them (and to many others). If he were a Democrat, he'd be viewed as the no talent ass clown that he is.

Seemed very smart. His parents were thisclose to not escaping Nazi Germany; a handful of his relatives died in concentration camps

In Ohio!!!

Go Jerry and Go Nina..

SofS of OHIO!!

We should be all over helping her...

FREAKING OHIO!

Remember voting?

The national Dems should be there with $$$, That job, in that state, is important to the future voting rights of Ohio and us all. This job was always sorta just administrative, but the scum 'pugs have now politicized the job so we have to view these races just like Congress, Senate, Governor... This position might be even more important than some of the others...

If we can't vote, we can't win, thats their game and we have to play along.

Who the SofS is or whoever is in charge of voting in your state is now really important.

IF WE CAN'T VOTE WE CAN'T WIN
