Arizona gay marriage: Couples get married, celebrate

Source: Arizona Republic

Karen Bailey and Nelda Majors of Scottsdale have been together for 58 years and on Friday were among the first to get their marriage license after a federal judge ruled the state must allow same-sex couples to marry.

"I have no words to express how I feel. It's wonderful," said Majors, 76, as the couple emerged from the clerk's office at Maricopa County Superior Court shortly before 11 a.m.

People clapped and cheered outside the clerk's office when they got word that county clerks could begin issuing marriage licenses immediately.

Minutes after getting their license, David Larance, 36, and Kevin Patterson, 31 married outside the county clerk's office in downtown Phoenix. Patterson was in such a rush he arrived straight from the gym and forgot to bring his wedding ring.

The good people of AZ - Ducey is not the answer for Arizona..vote Fred Duval - let's restore our beautiful state ..hate doesn't work!

The law that allows a gay person to be fired for being gay - needs to go as well...she vetoed that bill -

off my game. Still pissed off about that cop shooting that dog. I had people over my house working all my machines sending out emails, letters, making phone calls, faxes, etc. Don't know if it did any good. Some stuff bothers me and I have to do something. Night.

The world continues to turn, the sun continues to rise in the east in the morning
and set in the west in the evening. The sky ISN'T falling and God isn't hurling
lightning bolts at Arizona city halls. There are just a few more smiles in Arizona
than there were last week, that's all.
