NC campaign flier has background lynching photo
Source: Greensboro News Record /AP
Multiple media outlets reported the fliers showed up Sunday at Kingdom Impact Global Ministries.
The flier read "Kay Hagan doesn't win! Obama's impeachment will begin! Vote in 2014."
Sen. Hagan is a Democrat locked in tight race with Republican House Speaker Thom Tillis.
The flier did not endorse any candidate and said it was paid for by Concerned Citizens of Cumberland County. There was no contact information for the group.

So much for Post Racial America, North Carolina is still slipping into darkness and our current State government is leading the charge

sorta makes more sense to me than the reverse, just english language wise.
Seems like the point would be to encourage African-Americans to vote by scaring them. Certainly not something the Tillis campaign would want any part of.

"Jimmy Buxton, president of the Fayetteville branch of the NAACP, said Monday morning that he had not seen the flier. But he said he does not think the impeachment message is racist.
"That's what the community feels," he said. "That if the Senate is taken over by the Republicans, and it remains the Republicans (in the majority) in the House of Representatives, they're going to impeach him."

(11,297 posts)How could the Democrat winning mean impeachment would begin?
That is the opposite.
The flyer is Republican.

(31,849 posts)it is likely his comment was based on the reporter's description of the flyer ... a description that may have been misleading.

(21,475 posts)How do you interpret it as her win will bring Impeachment? It is a bad flyer put out by Democrats supporting Kay Hagen.

(1,569 posts)It says "Kay Hagan DOESN'T win", therefore impeachment begins, and equates impeachment to lynching. It is trying to get African- Americans to vote

(9,001 posts)Which is what the Teapuglicans in this state want.
If it was distributed to African Americans, it was an intimidation tactic.

(1,807 posts)It's a really poorly written flyer put out by a guy who is saying that if Hagen doesn't win, Obama will be impeached... therefore, vote for Hagen. Seeing that it was distributed at many southern Baptist churches, I'm pretty sure that's what the flyer intends to say.
TalkingDog
(9,001 posts)And it wasn't distributed at "many Southern Baptist churches" It targeted an African American church.
It was an intimidation tactic.
