Hatchet-Wielding Man Who Attacked Cops 'Just an Angry Guy'

Source: ABC News

A hatchet-wielding man who attacked two police officers in New York City before he was shot to death was likely “just an angry guy” and was not connected to any terrorist organizations, a police source told ABC News.

The attack happened at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the intersection of Jamaica Avenue and 162nd Street in the city’s borough of Queens.

Surveillance video released by police shows the man -- later identified as Zale Thompson, 32 -- wearing a heavy green jacket, raising the 18 ½ inch hatchet, prepared to strike as he walked down the sidewalk. The man was unprovoked and did not speak before swinging his hatchet, police said.

Some folks just refuse to believe that mental illness is the main thing going on here, Canadians have understood this, not being brain washed by a panicky media lusting for ratings.

Facebook links. Big deal. More proof of the insanity of this criminal crack cocaine addict and clearly troubled and violent man.

the facts prove us liars, again.

Compare, contrast with the Canadian response, sanity versus the insanity.

Is calm not more comforting than insanity and fear? Not better for ratings, I grant you.

the fact he had militant Islam stuff on his computer was simply a coincidence. And stop your absurdity - nobody in NY is afraid. We're sick of people like you pretending that groups like isis and their minions are not catnip to weak minds who then snap.

This thread is about the NY attack, right?

But since you ask, stuff on a Facebook page does not make you a member of anything, this was clearly a lone wolf attack by a man with a criminal and drug background you seem unaware of.

And if you don't think the message of isis is perverting the minds of people already mentally ill, that's your problem.

therefore the only logical conclusion is it was an Ebola axe. I humbly bow down before our axe-wielding Ebola-slinging Islamic overlords.

NYPD commissioner calls hatchet attack on officers a 'terrorist act'

A man who attacked four New York City police officers with a hatchet Thursday was a recent convert to Islam and had become increasingly reclusive and "self-radicalized," New York's police commissioner said.

In a news conference Friday, Police Commissioner William J. Bratton called the incident a "terrorist act" and said local and federal anti-terrorism investigators were working on the case.

"At this time, we believe he acted alone, and we would describe him as self-radicalized," Bratton said.

Zale Thompson, a 32-year-old Queens resident, had converted to Islam within the last few years, according to relatives interviewed by police, and was described by family members as a recluse and depressed, police said.
