CHP: 3 officers shot in Sacramento, Placer counties

Source: KCRA

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) —The California Highway Patrol says at least three officers have been shot in Sacramento and Placer counties by a man and woman who are heavily armed.

Authorities have centered their search in the south Auburn area after reports of shots fired and that the truck sought in connection with the shooting of a Sacramento County deputy had been spotted, police told KCRA 3.

The truck is described as a red 2002 Ford F-150 truck with an ice chest in the truck bed.

All Auburn-area schools have been placed on lockdown because of the police activity.

Evidently, these particular "active shooters" -- it's hard to keep track sometimes, yes? -- are still on the loose...

Holy cripes. Next we'll need a national reader-board with a daily tally of
active shooters, locations, no. dead, etc.

Easy access to high-powered weaponry makes no difference at all!

Actually that would make a damn good cartoon.
Just show the reader-board with the NRA logo & ads all over it. hmmm.

I wish I had the graphic skills to sketch it up.

there was a High School shooting in Mayrysville, Wash, which is about 90 miles north of Seattle, just outside Everett, Wa.

MARYSVILLE, Wash. -- Two people were found dead, including the shooter, inside Marysville-Pilchuck High School north of Seattle.
Three other students were critically injured and the shooter, a student at the school, killed himself, according to police, student and hospital reports.

When I looked at state map, Marysville looked closer than 90 mi,
and most people don't know where it is either in Wash, so that's
how it got that way.

Marysville is only 34 miles north of Seattle. 90 miles gets you all the way up to Bellingham, and within 20 miles of the Canadian border.

Still not Seattle of course, but Seattle is probably the only city recognizable to many in the country as being in Western Washington.

(edited to change "moles" to "miles". Way more than 34 moles, or even 90, between Seattle and Marysville.)

They say the first officer was shot in the head and died. The person who refused to give up their car was also shot in the head, condition unknown.

The woman is in custody in Placer Co., and prior to the news conference, reporters said law enforcement is evacuating people and zeroing in on an area in Placer Co. where they think the male suspect is hiding.

I took two ladies to the Doctor's appoints thru the area and it got bigger and bigger and it it seemed like every law enforcement guy from Sacramento and probably 50 miles away or more, was doing was doing the the stroll up to Auburn with syreens going, blasting up HWY 80.

Hopefully they won't put citizens in the cross?

A day of carnage by a suspect armed with a rifle left two area deputies dead, a motorist gravely injured and another deputy wounded in a 30-mile crime spree that triggered a massive manhunt by hundreds of law enforcement officers.

Just before 4 p.m., officials announced the arrest of Marcelo Marquez, 34, who had been hiding in an Auburn home for hours.

I drove through the associated traffic disaster for the Spanos Ct. scene earlier. I counted Sac City, Sac County, Los Rios (they have an office right there) and Rancho Cordova cops, plus all sorts of unmarked vehicles with cop lights.
