Clinton shows Grimes support on Ashland's riverfront

Source: Ashland Daily Independent

Former President Bill Clinton has been called “the explainer in chief,” and Thursday he did a pretty good job of explaining incumbent Sen. Mitch McConnell’s re-election strategy against Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes.

Clinton said McConnell’s message to Kentucky voters is: “You are so mad, and I’ll make you feel so good, I’ll just take her off the ballot and put the president on and give you one more protest vote and it’ll be over in two years.”

But Clinton called it “crazy” to trade a six-year term for a “two-year protest” — a protest, Clinton said, which will cost Kentucky families votes against raising the minimum wage, against equal pay for women, and health insurance for 520,000 Kentuckians who’ve secured health insurance through the Affordable Care Act.

Clinton and Grimes spoke to about 800 who gathered on a chilly, overcast day along the Ashland Riverfront, the same riverfront McConnell secured about $10 million in federal funds to develop. McConnell’s campaign was on the air with a television ad on the day Clinton spoke touting his efforts on behalf of the riverfront development.

But, whatever, he is a master campaigner and he nailed it:

BAM!

"I'm not Obama" is not a campaign. Neither is "I am going to pretend Obama does not exist and I am in no way connected to whoever it is who now lives in the peculiarly shaped large house in DC." Those are not only losers but mock-worthy.

Whoever has been selling those campaign strategies to Democratic candidates around the country should be run out of the Party, or at least never hired again. The head of the frickin DNC refused to say Obama during an entire segment on Morning Joe a few weeks ago. It was painful to watch.

caused by Bush and McConnell Rpublicans and Democratic candidates want to credit the Republicans accomplishments through their failures by not recognizing Obama's accomplishments.
If it were left up to the damn Republicans GM would no longer exist,Bin Laden would still be hiding and uninsured/voters would still be at the mercy of insurance companies.
...So why in the hell are candidates hiding from Obama's success?
BEcause right after the "surprise" Rrepublican defeat in 2012 the RNC chairman Reince Priebus decided to win at all costs.
Lie, cheat, steal and make sure the corporate media get all scripts with the talking points early
Why do Democrats refuse to tell the voters that it was Republicans that stole 2 Trillion dollars from the Social Security vault and don't want to pay it back..its never mentioned.
...Its the South and some voters their are still living in the 50's and 60's minfset

One thing I do know: when you run, you cannot hide from your own voting record.

If you had a good reason to vote for something, sing it loud and proud. If you didn't have a good reason to vote for something, shame on you.

with the truth as you just stated, and it could be stated in plain English with video clips to back it up. It could be fact checked all day long and maybe some people would finally wake up. We on DU can't do much more than preach to the choir, but I guarantee you if I had enough money, I would put out some scathing, not mean, or unfair, but simply truthful facts that couldn't be refuted because people could see and hear with their own two eyes and ears. There would be no refuting it.

All the disgusting clips we see hear on a daily basis that exposes these clowns for what they are and what they stand for - if actually played in the media would go along way toward convincing some people they've been constantly and consistently lied to.

Senator M. McConnell has kept the women of KY under paid, barefoot, and uneducated. McConnell thinks of them as his slaves. He has used the coal miners and won big profits for the coal owners, but the people of KY don't understand who the real McConnell is. He is the slave master of the state. Wake up voters of KY, toss McConnell over the hill
