Obama to Dems: Feel a 'sense of urgency'
Source: The Hill
President Obama called on Michigan voters to head to the polls with "urgency," in a rousing speech three days away from midterm elections.
Speaking to a crowd of 6,000 at Wayne State University, the president, who's been sidelined from many Democrats, made his first and only appearance with a Senate candidate on Saturday.
Focusing on economic issues, such as raising the minimum wage, Obama rallied support for Democratic Rep. Gary Peters, expected to win the seat held by retiring Senator Carl Levin and former Democratic congressman Mark Schauer, who is in a tight race for governor.
"I want you to feel a sense of urgency these last three days," Obama told the crowd as he touted Peters and Schauer.

I like how the Hill has a video, which is captioned as describing President Obama as wistful. Also, despite his "unpopularity," you still have 6,000 people showing up at a midterm campaign event. But this does not fit the narrative, so expect cable news to ignore, and instead focus on stories pumping up Republicans.

shut down Gitmo, get the all the troops home, and build infrastructure....remember those promises?
republican obstruction to EVERYTHING that would have benefited vets, seniors, the WHOLE middle class? The only thing my President did wrong was to think he was dealing with civilized non racist human beings. Big mistake. He thought partisanship was a real option. For another Democratic POTUS it would have been, not this one. Remember the last 6 years of republican inaction on everything of benefit to the american people? Remember what's at the bottom of all the hate and malevolence? Guess not.

(85,373 posts)NOT ONE Wall Street crook has been indicted, prosecuted, nothing, for the huge mortgage fraud that brought the economy crashing to its knees in 2008. NOT ONE!
And there wasn't a Republican in sight: just Obama and his trusty AG Eric Holder, the white shoe banker himself.
I was let down myself, but I'm not walking in his shoes. Bankers wield tremendous influence in our system. Too much room for skullduggery and deceit. I think restraint was the better part of valor and discretion in that case. He did it, I left it alone.Yet in spite of things he did start the ball rolling on some great services for the american people. Health care being an important service started. I'm not going to begin trying to second guess. Yes I wish he had been more aggressive toward the obstructionists and their leadership and I'm sure he learned a big lesson in trying to reason with individuals on the other side, expecting them to be civil, open to compromise, instead finding them being total boors, 24/7 for six lost years.
You make valid points, yet every politician I have ever voted for was not able to make good on some of their election promises. I wish I could believe that one could deliver on all promises. Just hasn't happened yet.

(7,006 posts)President Barack Obama made a pre-election day rally stop Saturday, November 1 speaking to a robust crowd upwards to 10,000 supporters at Wayne State University. The President during the visit rallied for voters to support Congressman Gary Peters vying for the U.S. Senate, Michigan Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer and Attorney Godfrey Dillard quest to win the states' Secretary of State position.
Making the case on why Michigan is important for Democrats quest to maintain the U.S. Senate and overturn damage done in 2010 when 900,000 voters stayed home, resulting in Republicans taking over the Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, both legislative chambers and the State Supreme Court.
President Obama urged attendees to "Go vote and take a friend to the polls on Tuesday," November 4.
"The same folks that asked us to throw in the towel on Michigan six years ago, are now asking for your vote," President Obama told the large Motorcity crowd.
"When you step into that voting booth, you are making not just making a choice about candidates and parties, but making about two different visions of what America's is about And it boils down to a simple question: who is on your side, whose going to fight for you."
