U.S. strikes Islamic State convoy near Mosul: officials

Source: Reuters

U.S. air strikes destroyed a moving, 10-vehicle Islamic State convoy near the Iraqi city of Mosul but U.S. officials said on Saturday it was unclear whether the group's top commander Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was present at the time.

Colonel Patrick Ryder, a spokesman at the U.S. military's Central Command, said the U.S. military had reason to believe that the convoy was the product of a gathering of Islamic State leaders. The convoy consisted of 10 Islamic State armed trucks.

ISIS chief ‘critically wounded’ in air raid: reports

The leader of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was “critically wounded” when a U.S.-led air strike targeted the western Iraqi border town of al-Qaim, tribal sources told Al Arabiya News Channel on Saturday.

U.S. Central Command confirmed in a statement that U.S.-led air strikes targeted ISIS leaders near their northern Iraqi hub of Mosul late Friday, without confirming whether Baghdadi was killed, AFP reported.

“This strike demonstrates the pressure we continue to place on the ISIL [ISIS] terrorist network and the group's increasingly limited freedom to maneuver, communicate and command," US Central Command said.

Anbar province MP Mohammad al-Karbuli told Al Arabiya News Channel that coalition aircraft had targeted a gathering of ISIS leaders in al-Qaim that led to the killing of tens of people and wounded.

Let's bomb the hospital! sings another.

American songs coupled with beautiful avatars - dripping blood, radiating excruciating pain at the flip of a switch, smiling for the cameras. "we came, we saw, he died". That has to be cooler than cool.

For sure the USA is wholly innocent of atrocities in Iraq, in the ME, and in the world in general, and can't be compared to these ISIS zealots. The USA doesn't torture. It doesn't kill innocents. No way! The few bad apples are quickly removed.

Just do a number count of victims, of the dead and dying, of the social and physical infrastructure destroyed, and you'll see that the the USA stands for beauty and truth. And for the pièce de résistance, the USA uses moderate mercenaries to do its regime changing, to do its political work in Syria, whereas ISIS zealots are terrorist extremists bent on undoing all the good that was done by the USA.

So yes, let's KILL KILL KILL!
YAY!

so having two similar gangs going freely at each other's throat is alright.

If the bundy-bunch gun nuts would have gone bezerk and started to kill whoever they want when they wanted to (two of them killed two cops, but not more) based on religious rites, they'd have gotten a similar response, so you'd have objected?
