One Dead After Train Versus Truck Accident

(KCEN) -- One person is dead after an accident involving a train and a truck in Bartlett.

Little River-Academy Fire Chief David Borders confirmed to KCEN that there is a train versus truck accident in Bartlett.

Borders said that the train did not derail but there is an active fire.

First responders say they are setting up for mass casualty situation as a precaution.

***This happened about two miles south of my house, and involves the AMTRAK passenger train, the Texas Eagle, that runs between Austin and Ft. Worth. Apparently, the person killed was the driver of the truck. There was a massive fire that engulfed the train's engine. If you have friends or relatives on that train, you might want to check on them, but be aware that cell phone service is spotty at best in this neck of the woods.

1. Years ago before much of the rails in NE IA and SE MN were removed because grain was moved

by trucks this used to be a regular thing. People unfamiliar with the tracks would not look for the trains and cross at the wrong times. My cousin and his wife were killed this way. Few lived through a crash with a train.
