Texas School Board Member Sorry For KKK 'White Christmas' Facebook Post
Source: Talking Points Memo
A Texas school board member apologized after posting an image of a member of the Ku Klux Klan with the caption "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" to his Facebook page, television station KTAL reported on Monday.
Chris Harris, a board member for the Hooks Independent School District in the town of Hooks, posted two apologies to Facebook after posting the offensive image. After removing the offending post, he maintained in both apologies that he was not "a racist."
Harris also explained that the original post was "meant as a joke" that he realized "offended people" and that "got taken way out of context."

Yup, he made a politicians' "apology."
"If anyone was offended, I'm sorry..."
And people wonder why the Texas school board is thought of as a laughing stock?

(15,336 posts)who ever fucking posts about how the Democratic Party is "just Republican Lite", or "there's really no difference, so why vote" bullshit, ought to be buried so deep under a site banishment Tombstone, that they can never infest our body politic with their idiocy again.
Not only should they be Tombstoned forever, but all of their previous posts should be salted, so that no more of their ignorance should ever grow on DU.
Fucking voting matters! and if I see one more post about how Dems are just like Repukes because "little Timmy" didn't get his fucking liberal pony for Christmas....I'm going to scream!!!!

(8,200 posts)Those who believe there no difference between the Democrats and Republicans have swallowed the propaganda that is designed to encourage them not to vote. I cannot say that it hasn't happened, but I have never heard a Republican say that their is no difference between them and Democrats. It is aimed at low information voters who use it as an excuse for their determination not to be informed and vote or to actually vote against their own interest.

(4,490 posts)I agree in part, there are a number of clear differences. But it seems like this argument is more often used to justify support for some other heinous activity or avoid real discussion about another important issue. It's not like deflecting criticism of poor policy in this manner is any less simple minded.

(34,412 posts)So he's "not a racist, huh? Seriously? He actually tried that lame old line and the moldy old excuse that he "was taken out of context"?
How on God's green earth could THAT be taken out of context? By saying it was "taken out of context", I assume he meant, "Shit, I didn't realize that EVERYBODY will be able to see it." These maggots just keep slithering out from under their rocks, don't they? (Apologies to actual fly larvae.) It's good for us when they're too stupid, arrogant, and ignorant to realize that putting something online means that EVERYBODY can see it sooner or later.

(24,703 posts)Lets see how many parents go to the next school board and ask there right wing leadership what they are going to do about this.
Then a parent should declare right then and there they are running to get rid of this right wing hypocrisy and racism embedded in the district and show the students that this will not be tolerated and this is what is wrong in this country.
This is the same crowd that goes around and says that the public education system is failing, you think so because you have a racists on your team -----DUH.
And the education system is failing and that history books and biology books are false, that god needs to be injected with creationism and that a zygote has Constitutional rights.
Just like on the Rachel Maddow show concerning a white racists at a private ski lodge in Montana fighting with a campaign manager for McCain and now he is on the Jim Demint happy hour called the Heritage Foundation or better known as the American Enterprise Institute saying nihilistic dogma of racists remarks, that shows credibility and people give money to this outfit too further the racist cause of hate and fear

(24,703 posts)All it takes is the means and power of individuals to start a campaign to vote these people out, you just have to go to a meeting, stand and ask for a motion to have this hypocrite removed through a parliamentary procedure and then have someone present a motion to remove the racist, then to have someone in the crowd to the resolution to second the motion, and if the school board disallows this democratic form of government file suit.
It is time to take back common decency in this country

(1,425 posts)"A North Texas school board member has resigned from the school district after posting an image of a Ku Klux Klan member with the caption "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" and several racist remarks on his Facebook page last Monday.
"Hooks ISD Superintendent Ronnie Thompson told Raw Story that school board member Chris Harris submitted his resignation Wednesday. The district put out the following statement:
"Chris Harris, a current Hooks ISD board member, released on social media statements which have been characterized as racially sensitive. Mr. Harris has removed the posts and replaced them with an apology. The Board is conferring with legal counsel regarding what actions, if any, may be taken by the Board. The statements made by Mr. Harris are not reflective of the Board or the district. Mr. Harris is not an employee of the school district; he is a publicly elected official whose term expires in May 2015. Mr. Harris has submitted his resignation as of December 3, 2014. Hooks ISD school board will have a special called meeting to accept the Mr. Harris resignation and discuss options for appointing a board member to fill the vacancy. Until such time as the Board meets on December 8, 2014, the district will have no further comment."
"Harris' original post was published last Monday after a grand jury in Ferguson, Mo., opted not to indict Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson for allegedly shooting and killing an unarmed black teenager, Michael Brown."

Harris made several racist remarks. You should read the entire article to see how virulent a racist he is.
Sadly, he'll be replaced with someone just like him. I'm a fifth-generation native Texan, trust me on this.
