Top Obama aide: I'll leave after State of the Union

Source: USA Today

John Podesta, who has focused on the environment during his tenure as counselor to President Obama, said Wednesday he will leave his post early next year, though he declined to specify when.

"When I have an announcement, I'll make it — but I'm committed to after the State of the Union," Podesta told reporters, according to Politico.

The date for next year's State of the Union speech has not yet been set, but it is usually in late January or early February.

Podesta said he would stay a year when he began his adviser's job in December 2013.
