Rite Aid settles whistleblower case for nearly $3M

Source: AP-Excite

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Federal authorities say the Rite Aid pharmacy chain has paid nearly $3 million to settle allegations that it improperly used gift cards to lure new business.

The Department of Justice announced Wednesday that Rite Aid Corp. settled a whistleblower lawsuit filed in federal court in Los Angeles but didn't acknowledge any wrongdoing.

The government alleged that from 2008 to 2010, Rite Aid violated the False Claims Act by offering gift cards to entice Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries to transfer their prescriptions to Rite Aid pharmacies.

FULL story at link.

Maybe they are owned by Rite. Aid which is probably owned by Koch/Murdoch Walton Inc.

Nobody under the age of 30 will know how nice small businesses were = sad .

Anybody else tired of this notion?
It's like a buzzword for caught with pants down, slapped on the wrist.

... "we paid this off because we are nice guys, not because we did anything wrong".

It's 100% bullshit but fortunately I think just about everyone hearing it knows it's bullshit.

Same degree of sincerity, same phony righteous posturing about not meaning it.
Keep 'em in court till they admit wrong doing, 'cause the fines are a pittance.
Kick 'em off the school board and start a federal discrimination case.
Chase the bankers down and put 'em in jail.
There are plenty of other examples.
